For people that live in PA

Hello everyone. I am happy to say that I just got my license in the mail this past Saturday which I am ery happy about. I was wondering if you could give help with a question. I know there are places where you are not permitted to carry a weapon but not sure where they all are. I know courthouses, federal buildings, federal parks and schools, at least that is what I was told. Is that correct and is there anywhere else that you are not allowed to carry a weapon?

I'm near Pittsburgh - you got most of the list correct - but also there are some places that are posted gun-free - such as some banks, the Consol Energy Center and other "event" type locations. Rules vary by location.

Welcome to the forum. Check out the website below. It will give you a good start on places off limits.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but there was something not pointed out here regarding the Consol Energy Center.

It is public property owned by the city, and not off-limits under state law.

So where do they get their authority to ban firearms lawfully carried by licensed citizens? Does not Pennsylvania have state preemption of firearms?

Since this thread has been revived, Kenywood Park will place your gun in a lockbox in the security office at the gate. They told me they actually prefer that over having you leave it in the car. My wife and I had season passes and I always carried to the gate, and quietly told a security officer I needed to lock up my carry gun and they took me to the office and locked it up for me. No hassles.

Daughter lives in Pittsburgh and we visited Kennywood one day. Left the weapon in the car (in a safe) but neglected to remove the speed strip from my front pocket for some reason. Got the wanding and passed right through. They must not have been working that day or wasn't turned on. Six rounds of .38 Special made it in. Charter undercover probably would have too.

I have not been there in a good while. That is a good update. Thanks for posting.
You used to have to walk it back to your vehicle which (depending where you were parked) could be quite a hike.

Also. Allegheny General Hospital if you go in the Emergency Entrance you will need to have Security Locker it along with your license to carry concealed.
