I hope that we can get this in Fl. The state would have to drop the foolish no guns in school restriction but it could be done.
To be perfectly clear here, anybody with a valid Utah CCW can carry in a Utah school, not just teachers. People with out of state CCWs may be able to as well, but I'm not sure.
The federal law establishing "gun-free school zones" allows states to legislate their own exceptions to the ban. Utah isn't the only state that's done this. I've heard that Oregon, Michigan, and, ironically enough, California have done so. There may be some other states that have done the same thing.
I love how Utah still has the firing squad for the death penalty, very gun friendly![]()

Every time I bring the subject of arming teachers to protect students, others who are not familiar with firearms always say "the teacher could have his gun taken from him".
I just don't understand their logic. "Who is it" that is going to "take" the teacher's gun?
If they are refering to a violent nutcase, like in the recent shootings, they ALREADY had firearms! Why would they need to "take" a teachers gun?
So, it must be the "students" that they refer too.
Instead of assuming the students as victims and trying to find a way to protect them, they are now assuming the students to be the criminal.
Its like saying "don't drive, cause someone could take your car from you and run over you".
or, "Women shouldn't be allowed to carry mace for self protection, because a bad guy may take it from them and use it on them".
I just don't understand their logic.

Utah is as gun-friendly as they come.![]()
Hopefully Arizona will take the cue next and pass it, too. =O)
Cheers.
The GFZA exemption only applies to RESIDENT permits, not non-resident permits, I believe. So, not only does it not apply in Virginia, where I live, but even in the state(s) that allow it, you have to be a resident of that state.![]()
Perhaps Utah's approach to this situation will spread to more states soon. If it does, Virginia probably won't be too far back in the pack.
