    Body Armor

What's the final word? I'm pretty sure the CO movie shooter was not wearing body armor but what about the CT school shooter?

Did the media get both of these cases wrong or did the CT shooter actually wear body armor? I suspect the media jumped to conclusions in both cases but haven't heard anything for sure.

It's anybody's guess. The news media botches the facts so bad & very seldom corrects its mistakes. As expensive as body armor is it's hard to believe that someone using Mommy's guns would bother to buy any but you never can tell.

I believe that when the gag order is lifted we are going to find that the Colorado shooter was in fact wearing body armor. A full inventory of what he with him and what he was wearing at the time has not yet been released. The fact that he was known to have purchased a load bearing vest does not exclude the possibility he was wearing body armor as well. An early statement by the police indicated he was wearing body armor and that statement was never retracted or corrected.

One news report I heard on the day of the Connecticut shooting stated he had been reported as wearing a "bulletproof vest" but it was in fact only a load bearing vest. But again, no reason he could not wear both. We wont know for sure until the investigative file is released.

If you look at the amount of money the co shooter spent on his weapons ad ammunition you can total up the cost of the weapons and other gear and easily see he couldn't have purchased a bullet proof vest but a darn nice tactical entry or load bearing vest.

They were both probably wearing black colored vests with pockets which the ill-informed will incorrectly describe as a "bullet proof vest" or "body armor".

Since the LA Bank Robbery - where the two criminals were wearing body armor - The MAIN STREAM MEDIA will AUTOMATICALLY say that anyone who shoots people with guns are:

    1) USING FULLY AUTOMATIC MILITARY WEAPONS (and get all the details totally wrong, when a 2 minute search on the internet could give them the actual 'facts' and 'specifications' of the weapon used) that shoot 1,000,000,0000 ROUNDS A SECOND, when the shooter just looks at the weapon, and does not even pull the tigger (GUNS HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN, don'ca know?), and

    2) ANYTHING BLACK (especially BLACK) but it could be white, green, blue or fuchisa is BODY ARMOR if the shooter was technically not naked, until proven otherwise, and then they never correct the mistakes in the reporting

This is what I thought they were wearing too. The police might have said "vest" and the media just assumed is was a ballistic vest.

testimony at Holmes hearing confirms he was wearing body armor.

On Tuesday, the case was dominated by the litany of Holmes' preparations. He spent months amassing tear gas grenades, two Glock handguns, a shotgun and an AR-15 rifle, along with 6,295 rounds of ammunition, targets, body armor and chemicals, prosecutors said. He also purchased chemicals including improvised napalm, as well as thermite, a substance which burns so hot that water can't extinguish the blaze.

Holmes, clad from head to toe in body armor, was found standing by his car outside the theater. He told investigators that the apartment was an effort to pull police away from the theater. He didn't expect to see officers so quickly.

I'm more leery of them banning body for civilian use than high-cap mags if that tells you anything.

There is no amendment to stop them from restricting the purchase of body armor, and it is reasonably cheap ($200 for front and rear lvl. III rifle protection) if you look hard enough.

The last thing I saw about Holmes that the officers reporting he was wearing body armor and even had a neck/throat guard.

I agree, that's why I ordered my LIII Omega plates and carrier. You never know, a person may need it in a few years.
