Question about Indiana Carry
I saw on handgunlaws.us that school carry is off-limits in IN. Does anyone know if it is legal to carry in collegiate buildings? I am not a student, so I wouldn't be worried about breaking university regulations as much as I would be about state laws.

But in Indiana, the university's regulations don't have the force of law, correct? As a non student, I assume I would only get escorted off campus and have it left at that.

hope that's a typo, but Purdue does not allow weapons of any kind on it's academic campus - student or not.

it's all good
disclaimer: i am not a lawyer
that said, i don't know that you would receive any legal repercussions by bringing a handgun onto campus. as a student, i would however, be suspended from the current semester. and Purdue does have it's own, sovereign police force.
also, i see you are from Champaign. if you are a University of Illinois student and that university does not allow weapons on its campus (i don't know), you might be subject to their regulations if you are caught at Purdue.

At Vincennes University back in 1998-2000 or so, after we had our firearms certificates for police work, the rules were overlooked and we were allowed to carry into class even if we were not officers yet.
I'm not saying it's right, wrong, or indifferent, or whether it's legal. Just sharing my personal experience.

This and the fact that I could get my friend in trouble will probably keep me from carrying while on campus.
