I have virtually no friends or coworkers that carry concealed. It makes me feel like the Lone Ranger sometimes. Maybe I need to find a support group :p

What about the membership here?

Friends and co-workers? Yes, here on the forum, even; Prospector and Nighthawk. Maybe 3 or 4 others at work, one I just found out about. Both of my brothers have their Texas CCW permits. My son and daughter are planning on getting theirs later this year (my son is only 20 now so has to wait).

I know only 2 with CWP besides myself: a co-worker with a CWP [Colt 1911 fan] and an acquaintance (the husband of a woman on my mixed-doubles tennis team) [Glock 30].

Before I had kids I shot a lot of .22 pistol at paper targets and a little 9mmm P38. Then my wife convinced me to get rid of all pistols while the kids were young.

After they left the nest, I went back to keeping a loaded pistol handy at home. When I heard about my colleague and the other guy, I decided it would be a good idea to resume target shooting and extend my security with my own CWP. Upgraded to .45 too.

Yes, this is Tennessee.

Most of my associcates have carry permits, even my dentist. People in this area people obtain a permit like is was a drivers license, just part of life. My employer has a "no firearms" policy, but openly says that they ignore "whats in your truck." I have a couple friends that are Phd\'s that are quasi-antis, but they have been brainwashed by the socialist university world and are the exception and not the rule around here. We have very few car-jackings and home invasions are almost non-existant. Rumor has it that the Army recruits snipers from this region because of the vast indiginous proficiency of riflery that exists. I have no data to support that though.

Well, thats not the way the mil recruits. Plus, the actual shooting part can be taught to anybody that is a good student. The toughest part of being a sniper is the stalking and such. Becoming a sniper takes heart and will, not shooting ability.

Anyways, being a Marine I know a few "co-workers" who carry. Many more who are gun guys but don't have a permit. It's tough because so many of us have been stationed in Kali where permits are a no-go, and many more move around so much that you have to be pretty dedicated to get a new permit at every duty station. (I got a Utah permit that will cover me every place I may be stationed except Kali)

Yup. all except one who can't, was a bod boy when he was younger.

On this topic, friend went out on a date with a girl and the subject of Concealed Carry came up right after dinner was ordered. The girl goes into this long winded diatribe how she would never go out with someone who is "packing heat" (her words) much less associate with people who are into guns. She said that is what the police is for.

*cough cough* SHEEP *cough cough*

Needless to say he said he never had a dinner taste so crappy with such crappy company. To top it off, he said his date ate so damn slowly that it just prolonged the agony.

A question for you single guys, do you carry when you go out on a date?

This got me thinking. My closest friends all carry and probably half the people I work directly with carry. I do work with some hard core anti-rights people. A friend\'s wife is also a hard core anti-rights. Their loss.

I would have just told her that I was carrying and see if she would speed up eating or decide she was no longer hungry :p

On your other question, I always carried on a date in case the poor girl just could not resist my \"mojo\". :kay:

armoredman-

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but I have a question for you. Looking at your avatar I find it hard to understand why your co-workers would not CCW, especially since they do not have to go through the 16 hour training class to carry IIRC. Is this true? I would think they would be more concerned about their safety than most. BTW is that shield in the image gold, or just the lighting?

i carried at the in-laws christmas party..none knew i carried most didnt even realize that the law was in effect (Mo.)...i was outside with some brother in-laws and guns came up..i told them that had got my permit and that i carry all the time...i found out later that i was the talk of the party after i left and it wasnt good..from what i got most would have asked me to leave or put it in my car....but if they had i would have went to my father in-law and ask again if it was ok that i carried...of course he doesnt care...so tough titty for the rest of the in-laws..i guess i wont be welcome or invited to future parties to the in-laws functions which is fine with me...the father in-law likes me more than most of his own kids and thats all that matters to me....what a great guy to have for a father in-law and mom is the same way the rest of them just dont matter... but there are only 3 that i know of a friend in st. charles,my step-dad,and me....

Have one that carries now, we actually did our classes together. He also got me started on this forum. Working on a couple other friends right now to try and convince them to carry. One is just stuck at the money barrier of buying a gun and paying all the money for the permit and classes.

Most of my friends carry concealed.
In this county, I know most of those that carry concealed, since I have qualified them for CCW and the class I teach is the only one around here.

Amongst my friends are the other 9 CCW instructors for this county...2 of which I see at work everyday.

I dont have any close friends, just co-workers and guys I know from the range. None of my co-workers on graveyard shift CC, and of course a lot of folks I run into at the range do. I\'d say most of the regulars that hang out there like I do because we have no lives.
