    NC Concealed Carry Denial

    Hi Folks,

A friend just had their concealed carry renewal denied.

Anyone know the process for a petition or can anyone recommend a lawyer in NC that deals with concealed carry?

    Thanks

    Wodan

Since you are only asking for the name of a lawyer, I'm assuming you know why the renewal was denied.

Good luck to your friend, I'm sure that some of the tarheels on here will suggest some names of competent attorneys.

You'd have to post a lot of personal info for anyone here to actually help you. Has your friend beaten up his wife or girlfriend since his last renewal? Been arrested for a felony? They denied it for a reason as I am reasonably certain they can't use "just because we feel like" as a valid reason. More info would be needed. As for a lawyer in NC, Google will likely turn up a million to choose from.

Maybe dropped a hotdog at a sporting event?

    14. Throwing or dropping objects at sporting events N.C.G.S. § 14-281.1

According to 14‑415.15. Issuance or denial of permit.

He could petition with the district judge. He should get the reason in writing and yes consult a local lawyer.

My friend's letter said issue was GS 14-415.12 receiving a diagnosis for mental illness.

Fact is that they have been on wellbutrin since being a teenager. My friend also has had a concealed carry for 20 years, so this denial on the renewal is very confusing.

Does anyone know process for petition, I mean the details or know of a good, fair and reasonable lawyer in NC that handles concealed carry?

Thanks for all the very quick response.

    Hi, yes I read that.

I still can't find more detail on petition or any suggestion on a lawyer.

Not a good time for your friend. In the wake of recent mass shootings this particular issue "mental illness" has been getting a lot of attention. No doubt it had a direct affect on your friends ability to renew his license. Thank your elected officials and those that voted for them. Sucks.
