Congratulations of course but IMO there is no excuse for anyone having to wait that long for a cc permit. NONE.

We're having a discussion about a proposal for new longer training requirements for TX permit holders and one objection is how long it takes to put in more hrs.

What is it, I think 15 hrs? ANd folks are making the point that what if someone needs that permit for self defense NOW? Like a woman being stalked?

And there are places where she'd need to wait MONTHS to receive the permit after she applied for it??? In AMERICA? There is something really wrong with this picture.

If one state can turn a permit application around in a week...why does it take other states MONTHS? Even discounting different training requirements (I'm sure states dont go and verify when a person sends in their certificate or whatever). Even discounting some differences in beauracracy. There is NO excuse I can think of. Can anyone enlighten me?

Not only that, a permit in my state is $55. In some states, the permit and/or mandatory training is more than $250. Again....what the heck?

The thing about "defense" is that it has practically nothing to do with guns. (As passed on by CCW9MM)
