Florida Concealed Carry Permit Process...Advice/Tips???
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and proud to say I completed the Concealed Carry course yesterday. With my certificate I understand that I have a lot left to do before I can receive my actual permit. With all of the gun craziness going on right now, rumor has it that mail-in applications are taking forever. I'm entering the police Academy in St Petersburg, Florida in April and I would like to get my permit as soon as possible. If anyone has completed the course in Fl within the last few months/weeks could you fill me in on how the process went for you, post course completion? Any and all feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't send your app in...take it to a regional center and you'll have your permit much sooner.

Probably going to take at least 90 days. I am not sure if it will be faster at this point to make an appointment at a regional office. I think I read somewhere there are no openings at a regional office through March. I could be wrong I am sure there is someone who has done it recently. I mailed mine in Oct 1st through the mail and received it on Dec 10th.

What retsupt99 said. Take it to a regional office, they will print and photo you all in one place.

You should have your license within a couple or three weeks of completing your application process if there are no issues. The process is much speedier now than it was a few years ago due to these new fast processing facilities.

If the closest office has too long a wait for an appt, try the next nearest place.
I am not sure if you can just walk in and sit for as long as it takes.

You have to make an appointment at a regional office to do it in person. If you mail it in, you just have to get your fingerprints and picture done somewhere to send in with your application. The link Ret posted above will give you the instructions either way you go.

We got ours before the recent flood of applications. We went through a regional office. It was painless when we got ours, but a longer wait is certainly in store. Do it soon!

Walgreens for quick passport photos. With the long wait for regional office appointments, you're doing just as well to mail it in.

If you are in Orlando you might try Tampa if you can travel. Check other offices the wait may not be as long.

Florida Concealed Carry Permit Process...Advice/Tips???
One stop shopping at the regional offices. Application, photo, and digital fingerprints. I had mine 3 weeks later, but that was several months ago. They may be much busier now. If I remember correctly, they only took cash or checks. Suggest you verify what you need to bring.

My advice is to go back in time a few months, and apply then....
Your two options are to schedule an appointment 3 months out, go in to a regional office, apply, and have it back pretty quickly, or mail everything in and wait just as long to get it back. Personally, I would schedule an appointment, seems to be more involved, and less likely that your app will sit on someone's desk for a while.
