CCW controls
I just thought I'd throw this out for any of you that don't know about it. CCW controls is a smart phone ap that tells you what states honor you're ccw, all the dos and donts of carrying in any state and how to transport in states that don't honor your ccw. It stays very current an the longest I've gone with our am update is 2 weeks! If you travel a lot I highly recommend it!
I use an iPhone but the guy who turned me on to it had a droid so it's out there for everyone and it is free!

There is no way I am going to purchase an app and put on my phone this app which will identify the owner of the phone as an owner of a firearm.

Love the application!

1. It's free
2. How does it identify you as anything?

I like not adding a bunch of apps on my phone. I already check regularly for changes in laws respecting carry. If I'm going to be traveling I do the research ahead of time. No need for a phone app.

So where do they get their information and how do they ensure it's current and accurate?
Seems to me that, for most folks simply double-checking with the reciprocity and CHL-related statutes prior to a trip is the most-sure way to go.

I only have a dumb phone ... it makes and receives calls PERIOD.

Yep, even my work phone is a dumb phone. Although my boss keeps telling me he needs to upgrade it. I've only started to send text messages on it in the last year.

The problem with every online site is currency. The list of reciprocal states changes constantly. Is the application undated daily?

I don't think I would say reciprocity changes more than once a year for any one state
I don't have a smart phone, but I could see where this might come in handy. Last year on vacation we traveled to Ohio and from there we were taking a side trip to Kentucky. I had our destinations plugged into our GPS but I didn't run a simulation on the GPS. As we were driving along, I saw a sign saying, Welcome to Indiana. Our course took us into Indiana for about 5 miles, just a quick run across a section that the river wandered around that the highway cut across. Luckily my CPL is recognized by Indiana, but I had not planned on being in Indiana on this trip. With an app like this I could have at least confirmed my legality and did a quick review of any laws such as need to inform in case I was stopped at a seatbelt check point or such.
