    Great post. I am an instructor, and many students are surprised when I tell them that a handgun is not a magic death ray. One shot very rarely actually stops a BG who is bent on your destruction. Only on television can a guy with a snub nose 38 hit the BG at 300 yards and put him down with one shot. Television has created an incredible mystique regarding the use of a handgun in self defense. I remember a TV reporter who questioned why a police officer had to shoot and kill an armed BG. The reporter asked, "Why did the officer have to kill him? Why didn't he just shoot the gun out of his hand?" As absurd as this sounds, it is believed by many.

    Agree 100%. The carrying of a deadly defensive tool is far more than just "knowing" the tool.

    And, great reminder on the need for an effective mindset. Can't be executing what you haven't prepared for, aren't determined to see through to surviving.
    Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
    Thoughts: Justifiable self defense (A.O.J.).
    Explain: How does disarming victims reduce the number of victims?
    Reason over Force: The Gun is Civilization (Marko Kloos).
    NRA, SAF, GOA, OFF, ACLDN.
