    FYI for MO CCW applicants

The license office is on the new state licensing system, at least they are in STL city. It is irrationally slow, and the requirements are more stringent than before.

Since it is recommended to get a separate, non-drivers ID for your CCW permit, you need paperwork for a new ID unless you already have one. This is true even if you already have a valid drivers license. Make sure to bring your sheriffs notice, a passport or birth certificate, and a utility bill with a postmark from the last 30 days. Otherwise you will be turned away.

It can be a pain to forget something when your sheriffs notice is only good for 7 days.

Is this for your printing and background check submission, or your authorization pickup?

    What county are you in?

Yes, I am. Passport OR birth certificate. Also the mail needs a postmark on it. I asked if they would accept my letter from the sheriff showing my name and address. They said no, it needs address and a postmark. I used my MSD sewer bill.

Do I understand correctly your CCW is actually an endorsement printed on your driver's license?

It can be, or you can choose to have it printed on a non-DL ID.

Non-DL ID is better in my opinion. I sometimes need to show my DL when making a purchase and I'd rather not disclose that I have a CCW permit.

Yeah, I agree. Plus it's easier to renew a non-DL ID when you have to renew your CCW.

They are not doing that here.

Or any other place that I know of.

All of my CCW people have had no problem going up to and getting their permits from DOR.

That includes Saline, Pettis and Cole counties.

Not one of them have had to produce any of the documents that is stated on the MO DOR webpage. If you have already done it once, you do not have to do it again.

It's not specific to the CCW permit. Applies to all Driver/ Nondriver License & Instruction permits. The new rules became effective in December 2012. I renewed my driver's license in November and did not need anything except my old license. Personally, I don't mind these new requirements if it will reduce the number of illegal ID's out there. New legislation is in the works to require photo ID to vote and I'm all for reducing voter fraud.
