    CCW Iphone/Android App

I know the Posted! App has been talked about, butI didn't see the CCW or the Gun Conceal app mentioned anywhere.

The CCW app is great; you select the permit(s) you currently have in the app. It gives you an interactive map of where you can carry based on the current reciprocity. They claim to keep it updated as reciprocity changes. If you click on a specific state it gives some basic information about carrying in that state. Things like “Duty to inform Officer” a list of common places where it is either allowed or not allowed to carry, restaurants, parks etc. It has the signage laws, transportation laws, and even a search based on your current location to find everything from a gun store to legal advice.
    Worth checking out!

I'm not a tinfoil hat wearing kind of guy, but this app sounds like a terrible idea. How long do you think it will take for users info to get out to the media? How long until some one comes up with an app to track users of this app by their "Current Location"? No thanks, count me out.

For those worried about being "tracked" or somehow "discovered," I think you're too late, unless you:

    (1) carry only weapons bought privately

    (2) never buy gun parts or ammunition with a credit card

    (3) never buy gun parts or ammunition on line

    (4) never buy any type of reloading components with a credit card or online

    (5) are using a proxy server to mask your ISP in connecting to this site

    (6) don't have a CCL that the federal government can appropriate the information for, from the state.

Otherwise, having an app on a phone really doesn't affect you. If the feds want to know something, they'll simply draw the CCW info from the state, crosscheck it with phone numbers, and then trace it via the 911 GPS signal, or wait at your home.

I have a good one for my i-Phone, it's called, "Legal Heat"...it updates each time you select an individual state.

They actually do keep it up to date. I have been using CCW for about a year now and whenever I see a post from Gary Slider (handgunlaw.us) about changes regarding reciprocity, within a week or so I see an update on my phone for CCW. Really is a nice app.

I see a few CCW apps in the Android market. Is there one in particular worth looking at?

I have tried a couple, including the legal heat mentioned above, but the only one I bought was the CCW, it seems to be the very best at the moment.
