SC Senate Committee Passes Bill Allowing Concealed Guns in Bars, Restaurants
COLUMBIA, SC --
The South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill Tuesday afternoon that would allow concealed weapons permit holders to carry their guns into bars and restaurants that serve alcohol.
Anyone carrying a concealed weapon would not be allowed to drink, and bars and restaurants would still have the option of posting signs saying concealed weapons are not allowed.
The full House of Representatives passed a similar bill last year by a vote of 90 to 5, but the Senate did not take action. Now that the the Senate Judiciary Committee has passed the bill, it goes to the full Senate for a vote.

Good for you now if only we can get our legislature to do the same.

Hope it keeps moving forward in the state of my birth and youth. Passed similar provisions in TN several years ago. Anti's and media dubbed it the "Guns in Bars Bill" and predicted all sorts of horrible gun violence results. Some bars opted out but te big winners seemed to be the eating places that sold alcohol. As logic predicted, nada, zilch, zero effect on gun usage so now the anti's/media are embarressed to mention "guns in bars".

Now they just need to drop the ridiculous property ownership requirement for CCL and/or approve reciprocity with some of their neighbors!

Hope this goes through. I'm tired of having to eat at McDonalds and Burger King since they don't serve alcohol.

When Florida passed its restaurant law, there were the standard "Wild West' fears, but, to my knowledge, the only shootings inside restaurants have been during robberies, which has absolutlely nothing to do with CC. Now if on NC will follow FL's and hopefully SC's lead.

North Carolina is working on it... With the republican controlled state house, state senate and governor, it should pass. It'll just be a matter of when.
