Just wondering what you guys thought about this. Just turned 17 and have been waiting to turn 21 not to drink but to get my concealed carry permit and when i read about this i got exited just wondering if you guys think it will pass or not..
IMO I think they should allow it.
Don"t let stupid be your skill set....
And Shepards we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, So that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command,
And we shall flow a river forth to Thee, And teeming with souls shall it ever be,
I think they should only allow it for military members
I hope it gets passed.
I remember all too well the frustration of serving my country while being too young to drink or buy a handgun.

I know some very immature 18 year olds.... I also know some teenagers that are more mature than most adults. I think it would depend on the person. Military service matures you rather quickly, so I would agree with you there.
IMO, if you have to sign up for Selective Service at eighteen, then the government has already determined that 18 year old young men are trustworthy enough to carry a weapon in a dangerous environment. Why wouldn't they be trustworthy enough to carry one in a non-environment?
I understand that there may be a number of people who would argue that an eighteen year old doesn't yet have fully developed cognitive function (frontal lobe doesn't finish developing until your in your early twenties), nor do most of them have enough wisdom yet. I may even be inclined to agree. But until our national laws change and say that an eighteen year old is not draft/die-in-war eligible, they shouldn't be ineligible to carry, either.
That and alcohol has always been a question for me: how can we treat eighteen year old men as adult on the one hand, and as children on the other.
I have a daughter (we are in NC) that will be 18 in a couple of months. She has taken NRA Basic Pistol and is really good with a semi-automatic. She really wants to be able to protect herself when she goes jogging, walking, work, etc. but knows she has to wait until 21. I HATE IT FOR HER. She should be allowed to protect herself.
If you can die for our country, you should be able to carry.. just my 2c

You can drive a car at 18 and that is just as dangerous as a gun (you can kill people just as easily with a car or gun).. I don't see why you should not be allowed to carry at 18, I fully support it..
If you can vote for my leaders and defend my rights in a foreign land, then concealed carry is the least of my worries! HOO-RAH!
They should be allowed to take the class. Some laws,i don't understand, anyway.I never understood,if an 18yr old can buy a firearm privately,at least in S.C.anyway,why not from an FFL dealer?Makes no sense to me.
Agreed they should be allowed, and that rule for 18 yr old,Heather,i've never figured that one out.
I tend to agree I see no reason an 18 year old cant carrry
