Simplistically, by putting down my firearm, I am trusting that the bad guys will be sweet and loving people and will not harm me or my loved ones. This I will not do. the choice will be theirs. live or die. They can retreat or they can be engaged.
I know what I can do with a firearm, how quickly and how accurately I can do it. I practice regularly, meaning every week. It is fairly simple to me, will I take the chance of having all of my family dead, myself included (or worse) or trusting in my skill, accuracy and resolve. Giving up my firearm is not an option nor is it a choice my family will live with.

Agree with this. I will never hand over my weapon to a POS. Usually means once it's handed over, they open fire.

    It Changes...
First of all the guy comes out with a locked and loaded AK with one mag in his hand. Mag in hand, ( I am stuck here). Anyway, a quick bursts, would have been my action because now days BG normally don't let you go.

Blue Lion just because he has an AK in his hand, w/ extra mag, doesn't mean he can shoot it safely. Stood a better chance of hitting his daughter. Lot's of people own weapons that they DON'T practice with, which all but makes them useless for tactical use in such a situation.
