My wife applied for her concealed carry permit!!

A few months ago I posted about a turn in events in my wifes thoughts on concealed carry. She went from not comfortable with me carrying to glad and secure in the fact that I did. Then recently she went from no interest in shooting a gun to owning her own when I gave her a Taurus .380 from her birthday. After taking her shooting, at which she did quit well, she is now a gun enthusiast. When I gave her the gun on her birthday I also included the application for a carry permit. She liked the idea of having the gun at home when she is home with the kids alone, but not sure about carrying. Well last week she took the initative and turned the application in on her own!!! I also caught her checking out holsters online!! I cant' explain how happy I am in this change in her. It is awesome ot know that she not only is able to protect our family at home but is now will to do it anywhere.

    You are a lucky man...
Buy her any new gun she wants.

It took my 32 years to make a turn-around....but she's there now...sort of...

That's great news. My wife is a rather recent convert and has her carry license and loves to shoot her Sig P238.

The Sig P238 is an awesome gun. That is what my wife carries as well. Didn't have to convince her to get her CCP.

That's another plus to this change. I've been wanting to upgrade my carry piece, it want hard to convince her I needed to. As soon as I find a M&P 45c it will replace my PT145. A took a basic handgun course together and a are looking at the defensive handgun course too. The only down side I'd my my ammo cost just doubled. Buy I can live with that.

I think after she has been shooting and carrying for a while we will see if she would prefer something different. Right now she likes the size and power of the.380. She shot my .45 a couple of times and didn't like it, I told her I would like her to shot it though so she knew what to expect in case she ever had to. I think she would like a good 9mm too.

    YES!

Good for your wife. Mine has had her permit for 2 years now. She is seldom without her LCR.

She came from Illinois the Land of No Carry Permit or Gun Rights.

Congrats to your wife! And congrats to you too - well done.

A .380 is a great start. That's what I started with too. Eventually I decided 'on my own' to get something with enough oomph to actually knock over steel plates at 20 yards, instead of just pinging off and leaving them standing.

It's funny, once you have a year or two of regular shooting experience with smaller caliber guns, those snappy guns start feeling better and better.

    Just about perfect.

Kudos on having more competent folks on your security detail, and a new shooting buddy! Gotta love how things turn out, sometimes.

    Congratulations, for your whole family.

Good for her!! And you! Isn't it great to have a lady who stands beside, and not behind you?
