I do not ask about guns as a rule. Then again my son does not go to peoples homes who I do not trust. He has been in a home (not ours) with guns on at least one occation. The owner of the guns was some one I & my wife knew to be responsble and we knew that our son most likely would not play with guns, he was three or four at the time and knew guns made a LOUD noise which he was not real fond of hearing.
Today, at almost seven, I am a bit more concerned that he might pick up a gun or a friend might and shoot themself or some one else. Yes, guns do not kill people by themselves but as has been said we as the responcilble adult in the home need to make sure the gun is not available for the child (Mine or anothers) to get ahold of. Yes, we need to teach responsibillity to the child; do not touch, go tell an adult but are we sure that the child will do so?
