The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent, . . . that it is their RIGHT AND DUTY TO BE AT ALL TIMES ARMED . . . Thomas Jefferson (June 5, 1824)
Do you travel a lot or something? I'm guessing that you don't have to be a resident of these states to obtain your permit?
That's a good collection of non-res permits!
I got my FL but that'll do - don't travel hugely and at least I have cover now for VA and OH - tho still will steer clear of the latter!

Walk steathly - and carry a big Springfield.

For me, when I applied for my Nevada CCW, I also applied for Utah and Florida. I usually only travel a few times a year, but why wait- especially as long as some states will take. For instance, my Utah permit arrived in 60 days, Fla in 90, and Nevada, my home state, arrived last, at around 95-100 days.
I don't remember if it's a requirement for every license but...
You might want to make a WalMart run for nachos just to set a good example for the noobs?![]()
(I just hope you don't have to travel to the WalMart in each state!)![]()

How many states does that make, ccWV?

Congrads on the arrival. Its a new lifestyle..
Jimmy, by my count I'm legal to carry in 33 states:
AL, AK, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MI, MS, MO, MT, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WV, WY.
When I get Utah (soon, hopefully - I'm at 68 days and counting!), that will add MN and WA for a total of 35!
I'd like to add NV as #36 when I go on vacation!
I'm also working on MA and RI for a new total of 38!
A quarter acre piece of "swampland" and an eight-hour class would get SC for #39. In the meantime, I carry (carefully and with certain restrictions) while traveling through SC as per SC Code, Title 16, Chapter 23, Article 1, Part (9) which statesOfficial Copy Found Here and carry into my hotel room as per SC Code, Title 23, Chapter 31, Article 4, Section 23-31-230 which states"a person in a vehicle if the handgun is secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle; however, this item is not violated if the glove compartment, console, or trunk is opened in the presence of a law enforcement officer for the sole purpose of retrieving a driver's license, registration, or proof of insurance"Official Copy Found Here"Notwithstanding any provision of law, any person may carry a concealable weapon from an automobile or other motorized conveyance to a room or other accommodation he has rented and upon which an accommodations tax has been paid."
Everyone is waiting to see what NE and KS will do in regards to reciprocity (I'm hoping to make these 40 & 41)!
That leaves only 9 states (excluding hopeless D.C., of course!):
IL - Will Not Issue
WI - Will Not Issue
CA - no nonresident
OR - no nonresident (except to adjoining states)
NY - no nonresident
HI - no nonresident
IA - nonresident is employment based
MD - nonresident permits are technically available, but not common, and certainly not "shall issue"
NJ - nonresident permits are technically available, but not common, and certainly not "shall issue"
I would love to be able to carry anywhere I WANT TO CARRY in the country of my birth! So, while I know that total nation-wide carry is impossible for a non-LEO, I'm working toward being able to carry in as many states as possible!

I'm in pretty good shape for just three permits; they give me 29 states.
On a vacation earlier this year, what I found to be a challenge was the required "homework" before entering each new state as we travelled west. It highlighted to me that a national solution is a must in our future; but first I'd say we need to win the remaining battles at the state level.

ccWV, how much does this currently cost per year and when you add the other permits you speak of, what is your projected cost?
