P95, it's definitely not your age. I'm 23 and don't see the point in it all. What I think is absolutely ridiculous is that there were at least 20 people there, and not only was there nobody willing and able to take charge and defend themselves, it doesn't sound like there was anybody willing and able to get so much as car make/model/liscence number to help the police catch the perps. I am sure they will probably get away scott free.

Actually, the Cell processor has eight cores: seven SPEs and one Power Processing Element (similar to a PowerPC chip Macs used to use).

Yes, I am a geek. No I am not waiting in line for the privilege of giving Sony $600.

I don't care how many procs it has, it'll never look as gorgeous as Flight Simulator X running on a DX10 Nvidia 8800 under Vista on my home PC. Viva La PC!!!

And to add to the original content of the post, I knew it was going to happen. Talk about "target rich environment". The only thing I have ever stood around and waited patiently for was my kids being born. Other than that, nothing is important enough to sit outside of a store and camp out. You just cannot cure stupid unfortunately.

    Facetious fun comment coming -

I am imagining a super give-away promotion by a gun shop. 9am on a Saturday morning, the first three customers can have a special edition loaded 1911 for $500 each, and other goodies to follow.

I think there would be a queue - but all members of said queue would be packing! (and some!).

To be honest, I never gave it much thought, but from the bad guy's perspective, it's like fish in a barrel.

    Exactly. Well... yes and no.

Yes because it's usually good when the strong defend the weak.

No because let's really look hard at how badly we desire the survival of people dumb enough to wait in line through the night to pay $600 for a video game system.

And how badly do we want to reinforce the idea that hey, I don't have to prepare to be able to defend myself, because somebody else will swoop in to do it for me?

I will be utterly unsurprised when the guy who got shot sues Walmart for about $150,000,000 because they did not provide adequate security for what they had to have known was going to be an "event" -- one that would attract disorder and possibly criminal activity.

Gawd. I am a reluctant member of the technical cognoscenti, but still, doing this for a computing machine. This speaks ill of our society.

Well, not so much as speaks ill, but reflects the illness that our society is displaying.

    Amen Brother!

This entire situation reminds me of people getting killed for their Starter jackets way back. Remember that? Crazy world.

Oh man do I remember that. Everyone wanted the Raiders jacket too. I remember people were stealing them in high school. They'd steal them, hide them at the bottom of the trash can in the bathroom, and when classes were over return to the bathroom and get the jacket.

Thank God I have no sense in fashon, it may have saved my life.

At local Walmart, police were on hand to escort people to their cars after getting one, only six were on hand to sell. They gave out raffle tickets to see who gets to buy them, so if you waited in line for two minutes or two days, you had the same chance of getting one.

HA! That is great. No matter what timeframe you waited in line you still had the same odds. Just goes to show hard work and patience don't pay off.

As for defending others, no way. I wouldn't even think of using my CCW to help someone else, unless it is my family. It is better to let the police do their job.

I would never pay that much for a game machine, 500.00 would buy me a new pistol.
