P95, it's definitely not your age. I'm 23 and don't see the point in it all. What I think is absolutely ridiculous is that there were at least 20 people there, and not only was there nobody willing and able to take charge and defend themselves, it doesn't sound like there was anybody willing and able to get so much as car make/model/liscence number to help the police catch the perps. I am sure they will probably get away scott free.
And to add to the original content of the post, I knew it was going to happen. Talk about "target rich environment". The only thing I have ever stood around and waited patiently for was my kids being born. Other than that, nothing is important enough to sit outside of a store and camp out. You just cannot cure stupid unfortunately.

Facetious fun comment coming -
I am imagining a super give-away promotion by a gun shop. 9am on a Saturday morning, the first three customers can have a special edition loaded 1911 for $500 each, and other goodies to follow.
I think there would be a queue - but all members of said queue would be packing! (and some!).

Can you belive people are paying this much?
To be honest, I never gave it much thought, but from the bad guy's perspective, it's like fish in a barrel.
Exactly. Well... yes and no.
Yes because it's usually good when the strong defend the weak.
No because let's really look hard at how badly we desire the survival of people dumb enough to wait in line through the night to pay $600 for a video game system.
And how badly do we want to reinforce the idea that hey, I don't have to prepare to be able to defend myself, because somebody else will swoop in to do it for me?
I will be utterly unsurprised when the guy who got shot sues Walmart for about $150,000,000 because they did not provide adequate security for what they had to have known was going to be an "event" -- one that would attract disorder and possibly criminal activity.

I cannot help it when I read the news surrounding this...
How does one see this kind of thing go on (I'm talking about the violence and chaos surrounding the game's release) and not weep for the future of mankind?
I think that humanity is a species that is too distracted by its own decadent spiral to understand that it is already dead -- it just doesn't realize it yet.

Gawd. I am a reluctant member of the technical cognoscenti, but still, doing this for a computing machine. This speaks ill of our society.
Well, not so much as speaks ill, but reflects the illness that our society is displaying.
wait in line for a $20 dollar game...
These people are nuts...sad world we live in! For every four 'nuts' waiting in line for this stupid game...there is one BG waiting to shoot someone for it...
Stay very alert...stay away from WW...stay safe!

Thank God I have no sense in fashon, it may have saved my life.
At local Walmart, police were on hand to escort people to their cars after getting one, only six were on hand to sell. They gave out raffle tickets to see who gets to buy them, so if you waited in line for two minutes or two days, you had the same chance of getting one.

HA! That is great. No matter what timeframe you waited in line you still had the same odds. Just goes to show hard work and patience don't pay off.
As for defending others, no way. I wouldn't even think of using my CCW to help someone else, unless it is my family. It is better to let the police do their job.

I would never pay that much for a game machine, 500.00 would buy me a new pistol.
