Good article, Phil. I especially like the "going armed is a form of life insurance" phrase.
Thanks for posting this, Phil!
Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
A very good read. Thank you.
well thought out missive , thanks for posting .
Hoplophobes believe mythology they see on television, in which bullets have enough power to hurl people through the air and fictional "cop killer bullets" can penetrate the shovel of a bulldozer. They think only Norman Bates and Hannibal Lechter would carry knives on a regular basis, even as they struggle desperately to open a plastic package of snack food with their teeth or their car keys.
 I love it!
Excellent site in general, Phil -- thanks!
Great, thanks for posting !!!

That is pure gold right there  ... Well written, Phil.Quote:
How arrogant must you be to presume to tell another sovereign adult how much value you place on her life?
I like the article, but with it should come a sort of counter-point. Too many people that do go armed don't get enough training, or don't really know how to fight without their gun, or don't keep themselves in decent enough shape to be a formidable opponent. If you want to win the "unarmed" martial arts world, you have to recognize that you need BOTH sides, which I'd say without hesitation less than %1 of gun owners/carriers really are.
Yeah, everyone here can say how many martial arts they take, what their rank is, how much they lift, and how often they run, but I can say I'm the Princess of India, too. A common theme amongst carriers seems to be a bit overweight and out of shape, a good article would be to be ready to FIGHT, not just SHOOT.
Perhaps you'd like to write such an article and submit it to The Martialist? I would gladly consider it for publication.
