It's a busy place, lots of people. You will get comfortable with your CCW when you realize that no one notices.....

Ranger , its somewhat a tradition since wall mart has a national policy of not limiting ccw in the store ( except NM where it is a felony to enter a wallmart with a ccw due to the way they word restrictions on places that sell alcohol ), Its a good place to get " out in public " for your first time . Besides you need ammo to go play now that you have the ccw dont you LOL .

    It's tradition son!

(...and we can not validate your CCW here until you have made the obligatory visit!)

You are supposed to buy nachos at the snack counter if they still have one. None of mine do.

Many people use walmart as a test for open carry as well. I personally prefer to keep concealed, but I did go to walmart shortly after starting to carry. It just happened with me though, and then later I learnded about the "tradition".
I must say that I was very aware of my gun during the whole trip, but no one noticed, which is the whole point....

    LOL!

I go to get a look at what they are spending our tax (welfare) dollars on. I don't have a ghetto area close by, so I meet them halfway at wal-mart.

Ours has an impressive array of foreign and domestic female University students. Of which my son at the age of ~20 months told several female Norwegian exchange students "Daddy made me" & "I like nummies"

    Not Only The Store...

but the parking lot gives you practice at keeping a watchful eye on local 'banditos' as you walk from the car to the store and back...
