Did my Wally World walk... kind of.

Last night when I returned home from work, I found that my Concealed Pistol Licence (CPL) finally arrived. I applied March 4 and it arrived on June 12!

So the first thing I do is go and change into shorts and a T-shirt, load my 9mm M&P Shield (one in the chamber with 6 in the mag) put it in a crossbreed super-tuck deluxe and adjust it to 3:00.

After we ate dinner and put the kids to bed, I had to return a rebox movie, and a bunch of bottles and cans, and pick up plastic wrap, it out the door I went. Instead of going to Wally World, I went to Meijer because it is locally owned and much closer to my house. But the same concept, big box retail store that sells ammo, ketchup, and foam pool noodles under one roof.

It was strange because the holster is still new and it would creek when I bent down to pick something up. But I just kept remembering the comment that another member made... I could have the gun strapped to my forehead and no one would notice it. Then I stayed up and watched a very long hockey game. By time I went to bed, I almost forgot that I still had it on.

Today is the first day with it at work... where it is actually encouraged! Several hours in, and it is still comfortable and surprisingly hidden with a tucked in dress shirt. I brought my suit coat with just in case.

Tonight, I will swing by Wally World on my way home to make it super official... might even buy cookies.

Congrats! Sounds like a great first experience.

I grew up in W. Michigan (Ada, outside of GR) and now live in South Carolina. I wish Meijer would open up down here.

Funny that you mention that.... my wife and I decided that next fall (2014) we are moving our family to Raleigh NC, and one of the first questions was regarding what grocery stores are in the area.

It is refreshing to hear that your work encourages concealed carry! As is my custom here I want to thank you....for being a civic minded patriotic American who has made our communities a little safer by exercising your rights. Stay safe and alert!

I've found it best when CC to bend at the knees. Maybe you did, but if not give it a try.

I think people at Walmart avert their eyes mainly due to seeing one too many 'Wal-Martian' who weighs 300ls and is wearing a thong and size small shorts pulled up to cover them in front but the butt isn't exactly staying in the pants. So to expect them to look closely and see a -concealed- holster is asking a lot.

Is there actually an unwritten rule that you have to do a wally world walk before you are an official concealed carrier?

Actually there are written rules for a Wally Walk and a WW must be properly completed before you are admitted to the official CC club. Research it. Otherwise you will be classified as a weird guy that carries a gun and will not be an official member of the club. :)

Congrats on the new permit. I grocery shop at a Meijers all the time, and it isn't really "the same" as a Wally World!!! Totally different class of people -- at least here in southern Ohio! I have NEVER seen anyone approaching the status of a "Walmartian" at a Meijers! While I commend your first venture carrying concealed, ya really gotta make a trip to Wally World to make it "official"!

I am surprised there aren't Wally World shirts out there.
