7 weeks for TN carry permit?

Hey guys, new member here with a question, it's been going on eight weeks since I got fingerprinted for my carry in TN. My buddy got his in four weeks and got his done two weeks after me, and my other buddy received his in 45 days, should I be worried?

    I would be.

If I were you I'd call the state police permit office and find out what the problem is. My wife and I got our about 3 to 4 weeks after we got our picture taken at the DMV.

Yeah...it would not hurt to call and check the status. I do know that the TBI is getting the backgrounds only about once a month and is doing them in huge blocks of backgrounds. It took about 3 months for me to get mine renewed, and I've had mine for years.

Tennessee states "within 90 days" and you are within that window. Still, if others are receiving them much faster, I'd call just to make sure your application didn't slip off someone's desk and get swept away.

So I called them today, they were very polite and helpful, I was shocked! She told me it was approved on the 22 July and should be in some time this week. Finally!!

I would call. Listen to this sad story - got my fingerprints sent to the State and promptly received notice that I needed to do it again because my prints did not show up well enough. I promptly did this on the day after Christmas. No news and just thought they were backed up. I finally received a letter and opened hoping to see the permit. Nope - I was informed my application had been cancelled due to not responding to the direction to have the prints re-done. If I wished to appeal this refusal I could contact my county court clerk to make an appointment with a circuit judge to hear my case. Instead I called the State office and explained the situation and informed them that I had receipts from both print efforts. It seems their computer was off-line with problems after Christmas and all transmissions were lost. I had to have the prints done again (still bad) and finally received the permit in about three months total. So call and check - their system is far from effective. I am thinking of going into a life of crime with my stealth fingerprints! A hello to a fellow Tennessean.
