What can be done about States that break statutes?

I have been waiting 9 months just for an interview in Ventura. I was told this morning to call back in 3 months. That would make it a full year, assuming I even get an interview by next Feb. Add to that the FBI check ect and Sheriff's approval of approx 3 more months.

Well, in a shall-issue state you can sue (as people have had to do in Georgia). In a may-issue state I think you're pretty much screwed.

Your location is Ventura, which I assume is the one in California. CA is a may issue state, which means there isn't a lot you can do. Go to this link and contact Jim March. Not sure how involved he is in fighting CCW issues in the state at this time, but he may be able to point you in the right direction if he can't help you. As you'll see from the website he was/is out in front of the CCW battle in CA.

    Try website CaliforniaCCW.org

There is a website named www.CaliforniaCCW.org that discusses these issues. It has a section on Ventura County, and here is a link to a recent chat thread of people talking about the long delays there:

Thanks for the constructive advice. I've contacted Jim March and browsed all the sites. I thought as a new member, I might find some different advice or point of view here. Seems as if EVERY forum has a smart arse. The part of NO that I don't understand is the the one where the government doesn't play by the rules. If I forget to pay my speeding ticket, a warrant is issued for my rest-I broke the statute of limitations given to me to pay by a certain date. I call 6 months after I was suppose to have been issued/refused for my permit and I am told to wait 3 more months for an INTERVIEW. I surmise that I am just an obtuse dolt, but NO.......I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND........

Thanks for that link, but I had seen it already and it is 6 months old. BTW, I was told Search and Rescue was part of the reason for some of the delay-renewals being the other. I didn't know Search and Rescue were not sworn and, if they are not, why do they get priority????

    What Can Be Done?

    I go with the move...
Actually, it was one of the reasons I moved to Florida from Michigan (MI was not a shall issue...it was a 'might issue if you're rich or know the sheriff issue'

Be glad to have you here in Kentucky. You can carry just about anything here. We do have a sense of humor though.

If they were to give the United States an enema the tube would be inserted somewhere in Ohio and probably closer to Akron or Toledo, but definitely in Ohio.

I plan on moving next door to retsupt99 in Florida. Just kidding retsupt, I do plan on moving to Florida in the very near future, though.

I understand it, and I have been known to deliver it. I just didn't think there was any wit to what he said.
Anyway, I appreciate the replies. I can't really move yet. I have family that I need to take care of here. I am applying for a Utah license. I'll bet it arrives before I even get an interview here. The situation here IS a joke. Ventura spent a HUGE amount of money to employ private security, x-ray machines, and bullet proof entrances at the Government Center. I would still like to know why Search and Rescue teams deserve priority over anyone else.
