Just listened to Seattle Mayor, Mike McGinn on Greta Van Sustern

Incredulous. Just unbelievable. Even Greta seemed stupefied by his comments that "gun free" businesses would save lives. He had no answer for criminals that would opt for gun free zones vs. non gun free zones. He is trying to make it a law that Seattle businesses would be gun free. He then went on to say, (and I'm not kidding) that if we had Federal laws in place, we would reduce gun violence. Yup. That would do it. The thought of spending ten or more years in a Federal Prison vs a state prison would certainly make me shudder. Where do these yahoos come up with this? Seriously. The mayor seriously needs to change the wine in his bong.

Doesn't matter, the law would violate state law . . . unless he's trying to change state law.

I'd hazard a guess that "intelligent" is not one of the requirements to be mayor of Seattle.

Doesn't surprise me. Seattle seems to be a northern outpost of San Francisco. A friend of mine was there a couple of years ago. Everything there is smoke free. He was smoking a cigar A BLOCK from an outdoor cafe, and the manager walked all the way to him to ask him to, not move further away, but to PUT IT OUT all together. Said his patrons were complaining and figured others didn't like it either.

Now we are to this point. Anyone check if this guy is related to Bloomberg?

I'll bet he has no answer, either, as to how disarming victims will reduce the number of victims.

I'll bet he has no answer for how prohibitions against murder and robbery result in felons committing murders and robberies anyway. Or how prohibitions on weaponry in the hands of felons will stop a damned thing, if prohibitions against murder and robbery don't already do so.

Ultimately, local government is nothing more than a reflection of the people who live there. If the people of Seattle vote for this, and continue to do so the next time this guy is up for election, then all we as outsiders can do is vote with our wallet. There are places, like Seattle, San Francisco, etc., that are complete write-offs. Leave them to suffer in the utopia they have created for themselves.

OMG, the next thing you know, he is going to ban 32 oz soda containers. But that would never happen.

As I understood it , he tried to make "decrees" (antigun one's ) like no guns in parks, etc. (as I understand it) and was taken to court.... because he couldn't do what he wanted to do because he was pre-empted by the State laws. So, he may want to trump the state law now, with a Federal one. I've heard he's a real nut case.

Seattle--another screwed up city in this asylum formerly known as the USA. When the government goons start knocking on his door, when the zombies start asking for everything that is his, and when this country plunges over the cliff of economic disaster and becomes a third rate socialist pile of garbage, lets see what kind of crybaby pile of turds this garbage turns out to be. If he comes to my house asking for help I will give him help with the assistance of my 12g.

Proof again that common sense is not a requirement for public office.

If such places were truly walled-off from all contact with the outside world, I might agree in letting them stew in their own juices. But the sad fact is, influential places such as SanFran and Seattle can infect other places, infect other minds, helping to destroy what remaining liberties we still have in this land. Unless the liberty-haters are held to account for their spewing, with feet held to the fire each and every time, we're at risk of losing it all.

Nicely, the state of Washington has a clear and unambiguous preemption clause.

Sadly, not all jurisdictions hold their hirelings feet to the fire in the way it should be, such as how the Oak Harbor, WA, mayor dressed down an anti-gunner councilman in Council after he'd attempted to force upon the town a gun ban that was clearly unlawful. He was acknowledged for what he was, unlawfully breaking his oath to protect and defend, seeking to break state preemption law. Story/video.

IMO, the state's attorney general and governor both need to dress-down the Seattle hirelings who are daring to do the same thing: breach of oath of office, breach of state preemption law, and clear liberty-hatred against the citizens of the state who hired them. Publicly and vociferously, repeatedly until they are cut down to size or ejected by the people for cause.

I saw this interview also, and it just amazed me that he really thinks this is a good idea, and has got a lot of businesses to sign on. Greta did a good job of trying to reason with him, but it only made him look silly, and his replies were really weak. Gretta has turned into one of the best interviewers on TV.
