I'm new to carrying and havent been out to eat since carrying, but i do hear people on here saying thats what they do. My daughter (17)has always liked sitting where she can see the crowd, so i don't know if I can break her of that and have her give me that seat.

I don't think your paranoid, just doing what you should. I'm like that as well. We that have chosen to pack need to always be at moderate alert.

It's not paranoid if it feels right.

I agree with you and as the old saying goes just because you are paranoid does not mean they aren’t out to get you.

Paranoid would mean you think every body is trying to get you. Cautious means you just like to keep an eye on 'em. Paranoid is an unhealthy mental state. Cautious just might save you and yours one day so it seems pretty healthy to me.

Just tell your wife to try going through one whole day thinking like a criminal on the prowl and then let her read some crime stats. Might make her cautious too! I know my wife changed after trying it.....

I agree. I always try to sit in a corner, or in the back row.
Even in at the movies. You will find me in the back row.

Of course there's the old saying "It's not paranoia if they are really out to get you." There's obviously BG's looking for an easy mark. Sitting with your back to the wall is just tactically smart. No one can sneek up on you and there are no surprises. The major thing about the way we've decided to live is the simple fact we want to avoid a conflict if possible, If you sit with your back to the door you loose most of your situational awareness which could be the difference between going home or to the morgue.

I don't always sit in a restaurant back-to-wall, but I don't think doing so is paranoia because there have been actual attacks in restaurants. Paranoia would be not going to the restaurant because I was sure I would be poisoned.

Help! help! The paranoids are after me!

But seriously. I do the same thing. I also observe everyone in the house, and case the layout for potential cover. My wife hasn't caught on yet, or at least hasn't said anything about it.

I do the same thing, and have for years, long before I started carrying. I just don't like to have my back exposed, or to give someone the chance to come up behind me. As I said in another post elsewhere on the forum, maybe I was just the victim of too many wedgies inflicted by my older brother when I was a kid...
