Wow, just got my Florida CWP - 1 week wait.

When I took the CWP class the instructor warned us it is taking the full 90 days that Florida has by law to issue a CWP. The state website is careful to point out that the law actually states that they have 90 days to respond and a letter saying "We're still working on it" is considered a valid response.

I went to the "one stop" Department of Agriculture office last Monday. Extremely surprised to see the CWP show up in the mail today. Now I need to figure out what my EDC will be, what holster to use and where and all that other fun stuff. I figured if I was lucky the CWP would come back in time to get some of this stuff for christmas, 1 week including mail both ways is almost same day turnaround, wow. :)

The state statute [FS 790.06 (5) (c)] actually says: "The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall, within 90 days after the date of receipt of the items listed in subsection (5): 1. Issue the license; or

    2. Deny the application

It says nothing about "respond time." But you can't gripe about a week. Back in 2009, mine took the full 90 days. The Dept. of A&CS does mention it may take longer if additional information regarding criminal records must be obtained.

    Oh, Congrats!

Congrats. I got mine in 13 days and thought that was fast. There is no State or city income tax here so ccw licenses are a nice source of revenue.

    Congrats!

As is my custom here I want to thank you.....for being a civic minded, patriot who has made our communities a little safer by exercising your rights.

I hope you find a good EDC, but I hope you never have to use it.

I got mine in 16 days last year. I think more and more folks are doing the office visits it definitely expedites the process. My wife did hers right after the newtown shooting when everyone was frantic about getting it and it only took 24 days for her.
