Good news from a good part of CA.

My Calaveras County Sheriff sent out a letter announcing a change in CCW policy increasing the the maximum to 3 weapons on the permit. Small change but in this political climate a surprise. I have a Colt 1911 and an LCP, what shall I buy now that fits in the middle of the range?

M&P 40C or Glock 23. I say that because I owned a G23 but gave it to my son & now I have FS M&P40 as well as the 40C. I can recommend them but I'm sure there have to be a good dozen others equally as good. If you want something in .45ACP I also had a G21 which I can also recommend & I've heard good things about the M&P45/45C. Will you be using them for SD carry or just range shooting? That could be the deciding factor. If for the range or competition I'd go with the full size counterparts of all of the above. Before I got my 40 Compact I carried a full size M&P40 concealed with no problems.

That is good news. Mine must be in the mail! For mid-sized, I use both an M&P9C and an Ruger SR9C.

you need a revolver. I'd suggest an LCR or SP101.

Rules like that are made up by local Sheriffs. If you are in Calaveras county expect one. I am just happy that my Sheriff is pro-2a and believes in an armed citizenry. Not seriously shopping for another concealable handgun, but i like having the option. If i did pick up another a full-size Colt 1911 would be great though. I have 2 revolvers, just don't care to use them for CCW, one is too old, the other too long.

Move to the land of the free. Here we have LIFETIME CCW permits and NO limit on what you can own or carry.

I grew up in El Dorado and the sheriff there now is as close to Shall Issue as the CA law allows- still wouldn't move back.

This is the latest map of CA Counties and CCW Issue that I can find.

What others from CA don't understand is, even if you have a CA County Sheriff that 'will issue', you still have to go through many more hoops than other states. CA is a 'May' issue state and many Sheriffs choose to 'May Not' issue unless you are very politically connected and have contributed vast $$ or support to the ruling party and, most often, the specific Sheriff's support for political office. It is that bad in CA. That is why a number of CA Sheriffs get taken to court over this issue, but the 'bought and bias Judges' rule in favor of the Sheriff against the Plaintant's 2A rights. CA is a 'one party' state. And it is not the party of freedom of speech or the 2A.

CA is not anywhere near being a 'Shall Issue' state. Do not let the terms in the attached map/graphic fool you. 'Will Issue' means they could issue to you if the correct planets are aligned that day. Issuing in CA has nothing to do with your US Constitution Rights, or even how the State Constitution is currently written.

Are you serious? There are really places that LIMIT you to how many guns you can have if you got a permit? Why I've never heard of that??? Do they have a reason for this? That's got to be stupidity on somebodies part.

Edited after seeing that map. What a can of worms? That has passed stupidity, I'm tossing my arms and shak'in my head...how the heck is somebody gonna know when they are leaving one and going to the other what to do? How about the "unknown" folks, it is a free for all for them and good luck?

I'm 100% convinced that state is ran by mentally handicapped people, no offence to those that may be.

I thought this thread was a joke when I first started reading it. Glad I am not the only one shocked by this.

Don't forget the gators, lizards, sharks, skeeters, coyotes, panthers, meth heads, hookers, and snowbirds...but at least I can own as many firearms as I want and carry whichever one (or more) that I want to carry without having to get permission. This area of Florida hurricanes are rare...and most Palmetto bugs can be taken out with a .22lr.
