    Hallelujah!

"Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, Oh what a relief it is!"

For those of you old enough to recognize that jingle, NO I'm not talking about Alka Seltzer...........

I submitted my carry permit renewal form just under a month ago and have been really concerned about the processing even though I read that the NICS offiice was not part of the government shutdown.

Today my handgun carry permit renewal arrived in the mail!!!!

And they even took a good picture of my ancient face..........It was a real joy to cut the old one into teeny tiny pieces and put the new one in my wallet.

Well SG I submit you are indeed mistaken about the "plop plop, fizz fizz not pertaining to Alka Seltzer.

If you are truly older than dirt then you might remember FIZZIES...

FIZZIES were a large one inch diameter by one eighth inch thick tablet of varying colors. Dropped in a tall glass of water when the 'fizzing' stopped you had a glass of a flavored fruit drink similar to Kool-Aid.

I remember once I put a whole Fizzie in my mouth. Major Boo Boo. After that I might place a tiny piece in my mouth tho this was rare.

If I didn't know you were a man, I'd know it now. I do remember boys doing that: ONCE, each. But I think they were more the age of my little brother. BTW - Did you know they are making the things again?

Fizzies Drink Tablets - Candy you ate as a kid®

Except that they are now sweetened with sucralose. I avoid that stuff. The FDA approves it, but they approve everything. The EU and Australian agencies put it in the "caution" category.

Even the bad stuff was healthier way back when!!!

P.S. -- I did mean the plop plop dittie was originally Alka Seltzer............It was the "oh what a relief" part that I was claiming for my own today.

Thanks, Sister. I go through this "case of nerves" thing every time I renew my license, because I almost didn't get the original one.

On the original one I had to call the state office a few times and finally they told me there was ONE check mark on the form I hadn't checked and I begged them to send it back to me so I could fill it out completely and return it. They reluctantly did that - but the whole process took months.

Now it is printed on the form that if the form is not totally completely filled out they will throw it away (and keep your money)......no more Mr. Nice Guy stuff. I checked the form 6 times to make sure there was no blank anything on it but am still nervous until the new license arrives.

OK, blitzburg, kick that jingle out of your head and play this one for a few days:

    "Home, home on the range
Where Old Geezers With Guns go to play
    Where seldom is heard
    A discouraging word
    'Cause we can't recall
What we were going to say"................

growing up, I seriously wanted to do harm to this little creature.....as I've gotten older, I realize he should have been freaking Knighted.
