I feel naked, oh so naked....

Get your mind out of the gutter! Not that naked!

I'm CCW naked! I am in SoCal for work, and didn't bring my 1911 with me. My Good Cause didn't involve work, so I wasn't sure about bringing it with me in a work vehicle on a work trip. Yet, as I walk around L.A. for dinner and sightseeing, I miss my gun. The crazy people in L.A. are a different kind of crazy than what I get at home....they talk LOUDER to themselves here!

I know I may get reamed for not bringing it, but I wasn't sure about the legality and my GC statement...

It's funny you say "they talk LOUDER to themselves here!". When I lived in Pittsburgh, one of the homeless that always hung around my bus stop would wear gloves (regardless of the weather) with the thumb on one hand cut off and he'd walk around (or in circles) having a full blown conversation with his thumb. It was pretty sad.

What do you have a limited carry permit ? It should say on there where you can carry( I think I lurk on CALGUNS alot). Normal as long as you have a normal card it does not matter what you said to get it just carry it . I would ask on calgun I am not a lawyer and don't even live in Cal . But I read a lot on the laws there .

PS dont forget to write the Governor to veto the new AW ban you have till the 13. You know the one that bans m-1 carbines , mini 14 etc.

Am assuming "Cencal" is actually central California.

If that's true, if you've already got a CHL as resident, then isn't your CHL good across the entire state? Or, are the places (municipalities) where you're traveling to capable of criminalizing CHL carriers if found there?

From what I recall of the California CHL application process, the initial application requires a "good cause" statement be accepted by the county sheriff in your county of residence. But I can't see how any given trip elsewhere must be preceded by a legitimate "good cause" statement to carry. Perhaps I'm not following you.

I still do not want to see pictures.......... OK, My mind is not in the gutter, but........................................ Yes, keep the proverbial pictures to yourself.

As for your post above, OP, yes, LA is stupid crazy. And as I now understand it, everyone in LA and Oakland CA carry an off-duty (freelance) LEO on the back for protection......... since it is a Union Perk for the LEO to freelance the fact that basically, in LA and Oakland, that only they are responsible enough to earn the right to carry an actual firearm.

P.S. - I even have some back alley talk about gang members in LA doing so............... just to be safe since they always abide by all State and Federal Firearms Regulation..... (this is sarcasim folks).

I went through that last month when I went on vacation and flew to VA. Beach. A week without my ccw when I had only left the house 2 times previously since I got my permit in March was very disconcerting to say the least. It really does become a part of you after a while.

That would be the only reason I'd ever go there. Getting some ink from there is actually on my "sleeve list".

I can understand your concerns about traveling in the work vehical and the permit not stating it's to be used for work. Personally for me concealed is concealed. Are you "working" while off the clock in the hotel room on your travels. Worse case I would have packed it in a bag just as if I was traveling without my CCW and at least have been armed while off of work.

If you travel frequently with work you could call your issuing department and ask for clarification with the work car issue, or just conceal. The only time it should be an issue is if the permit has saved your life. Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I think issues like this are a gray area to be interpreted by your Sheriff. I'm confident mine would back me up in a situation you describe.

No, I don't travel that often for work. After doing some research last night, carrying in the work building/vehicle is frowned upon, but I could have brought it for after work hours....but that's where I got stuck because my 1911 would have been in a safe in the work car! I'm going to have to figure this out.

....but I did find $20 on the street last night! Cha-ching, one box of JHP! Haha

Exactly what kinda carry permit do you have, since California doesn't reciprocate with anybody and has to honor HR 218

i wouldn't worry about not having your gun. California has strict gun laws so you have nothing to worry about.

My permit is checked "standard," not "Employ." Therefore, I am debating the ability to bring it to a work trip, but carry (on person) during personal time...
