I finally got down to the Sheriff's office today. After the blizzard, the job and just about everything else getting in the way of doing it. Turned in my CHP application, now the wait starts. Apparently, Oklahoma has gone to digital finger printing machines. I wonder if this will speed things up any. When I took the class, the instructor said it would be around 90 days. When I submitted my app, the ladies behind the counter said it would be 12 weeks. My first thought was WHOA!!!! it was only supposed to be 90 days..... DUH
, 90 days is 12 weeks. It was early, and I'm just comming of the road. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

aepilotjim: I like Minnesota's law--30 day deadline for issue....got mine in about two weeks, same for my wife.
This could be a goal for legislative change in your state.

Just a heads up....Oklahoma hasnt gone digital, but Tulsa County did, LOL. Congrats on your permit and I'm sure glad I left TCSO as I'd have been doing your prints, LOL. Boy that was a few years ago. Take care and carry safe.

NC does the electronic fingerprinting. I remember the day I got finger printed the woman who processess the CCW applications was out sick or something and would be in next day. I called her the next morning at 9:30 to ask her a question, and she stated that she had already sent the fingerprints off for approval! I was like holy crap that's fast! She stated the the electronic switch sped the process up a bit. I got a call 2 weeks later to come and pick up my license! WAY earlier than expected. Of course it could just be that here in Orange county the sherriff's department isn't all that busy, or it could be just NC. I found it a VERY easy process here.

Congrats!
90 days...WOW mine only took around 25 or so. I was biting my nails with anticipation the whole time.

Why is it that some states can turn around an application in 30-45 days, whereas other states take months? Don't they all check the same NCIC database? To me, if they can do an NCIC check over the phone to purchase a firearm (so they know you aren't a felon, have wants/warrants, no restraining orders, etc)--they should be able to conduct the check in 5 minutes or less....thoughts??

Some states' bureaucracy is more, or less, hot for the idea that the citizens can carry guns, I think. If you live in a state that only grudgingly passed CCW, you can probably expect them to maximize your wait.
Ain't government swell?

Virginia has a law stating that they have 45 days to either approve or deny, so I'll let you know my experience once I submit in a week or two.
