Red face Bathroom Woes(not what you think)

Quick question for everyone. I'm new to carrying, been about 3 weeks. My issue is when you have to sit down using the bathroom. I have a Taurus pt709 slim with a IWB alien gear holster. When at home I tend to take the gun out of the holster and put in on the floor next to me, but I cannot do that in a public restroom with other guys around. Any ideas on keeping the 'thunk' noise from the gun/holster hitting the floor when in a public place?

I realize this might be an embarrassing question, but this seems a good place to ask.

    Thanks all.

    Be safe.

Bathroom techniques are discussed ad nauseum in the "sticky thread". Sure your query will be answered there. Go to concealed carry issues and discussions forum. Then scroll down to "the official restroom discussions" sticky thread.

Place weapon and holster either in trouser pocket or on TP holder.

if youve got to sit, cradle it in the now open pocket of your underpants. or set it on top of the toilet paper dispenser. those are the best options ive heard.

Well actually that is a very good question Timmo. Since I pocket carry in an outer garment I take it off and hang it up or stand it up on the floor close to me. For an IWB rig I would carefully lower my pants hanging on to the rig to avoid the thunk and drawing attention to myself. Sometimes you can place the weapon on top of the TP dispenser and I've done that when I carried deep in a belly band. I hope this helps.

BTW...Howdy Hay and Welcome to DC from Washington State Today.
