An oasis of sanity in a sea of illogical craziness. Hopefully, this will signal the beginning of a trend to eliminate gun-free zones and will make our schools and kids safer.

I had the same reaction. "Packing heat" is both trite and pejorative, and in my mind ranks a few ticks worse then calling a magazine a 'clip'.

More accurate: Ore. School Board Supports Lawful Carry Of Firearms.

Much better (though a bit verbose for any headline): Ore. School Board Ceases Criminalizing Staff Who Lawfully Carry In Defense Of Selves And Students.

A ray of hope in an ocean of insanity. Though, hopefully they'll have a discussion with the teachers and staff, possibly with training given the student environment. Lots more to carrying with ~100+ students around than just carrying, including retention/disarm, the psychology of students in such situations, working with first responders given the school's security plans for emergency situations, etc.

The wording from the reporter sounds like a Bias was placed on the title as others have noted. The writer did not to write the article so he/she put their spin on it in the title.

Gotta love the headline, no bias there, huh?

The title of the story is definitely 'lacking'. I see this as a big step in the right direction in terms of real school safety.
The news media will have a great time with this, but will fail to mention that this has been a routine process in Utah for years...no problems!
In fact, in UT, teachers, admin, and parents with a CCW may carry in school buildings in that state.

One of the people said that he not so sure if they will be more safe or not, it will at least cause the bg to rethink about going there to try to shoot up the school.

Concealed carry in schools is lawful in Oregon if you have a concealed handgun license. So, if I am picking up my grandkids from their primary school, as a license holder, I can conceal carry into the school to do so.

I believe that the action of this Oregon school district board has simply validated for school teachers the same carry rights as a private citizen.

    Great first step here.
