    Tennessee is a Little Safer

Just got off the phone with the Stove parents, their permits came in the mail yesterday

Mom is going to carry her Taurus 85 and Pops is going shopping for a Glock 26...

Stove Jr remarked that it's "weird but cool" that his grandparents are going to be carrying....

That is cool. I hope they are close to Memphis. We need all the help we can get.

my TN permit came in on Friday, and I'm in the Memphis area :-)

60 to 90 days they say... I was told they had been running 4 to 5 weeks... only took them 3 weeks. I'm either boring, or they are working fast.

Yeah, my renewal took only about 3 weeks also. Guess it's better to tell people 60 to 90 days and have them pleasantly surprised.

Good to hear there are now 2 more armed grandparents in the general area. Very cool.

I seriously doubt anywhere USA is "safer" today due to a new CCWer. Take out a criminal in the act of a crime....then we are getting somewhere.

Heck, they need permits in Clarksvegas/AKA Clarksville. I can recommend Guns & Leather gun store to them. Two locations (Nashville area), indoor range & training, etc. Good folks.

In Clarksville, itself, Allens Gun Shop (on dover road/hwy 79) is top notch. Long time business, and they treated people right during the current shortages. I have purchased weapons, and reloading equipment from them. http://allensgunshop.com/index.php?route=common/home

Though Id bet your dad is headed to Grandpas, first.

I tell my doubting friends (only a few of those, actually) that they are safer because I carry a gun since the criminals know a whole heap of people are armed and that makes -at least some of them - more hesitant. More of my friends tell me they feel safer when I'm around, but that's another issue.

It's a good line anyway, and I actually think it is partly true since national statistics show violent crime falls as more and more people own firearms.

I tip my hat and congratulate your parents for being civic minded, patriotic citizens who have indeed made our state a little safer by exercising their rights.

I tell my 16 yr old to NEVER mess with an old person. Not that he would, hes a good kid. He, or I dont just go "messing" with anyone.

But I point out that an old person isnt going to get in what is a teenagers version of a "fair fight", that they will just shoot you.

Congrats to them! I haven't been back to Clarksville but once since I was discharged from the 101st Airborne Division back in June of 1964.
