Got my handgun permit today... Guess how long it took

My older brother applied for his 2 years ago and received it in 4 months. A guy I work with got his in 9 months after applying around the same time as my brother, but he also has a very common name, making background checks take longer. Then a guy I work with at my other job got his in 6 months. I applied for mine recently and got in in 11 days! I'm pretty happy to say the least. Now, my Ruger SR1911 CMD is supposed to arrive Monday. Heck yeah!

    BTW, I live in Indiana

When the time it takes to get a permit issued is measured in months, there is something grievously wrong. Either by design, by incompetence, or by under-staffing the state is depriving the citizen of his or her rights, beyond the usual infringements.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

Is this a carry permit, or a purchase permit?

From what I understand, here in Indiana, you only have to be 21 and without any felonies to purchase a handgun. The permit allows me to carry; concealed or open. But I am definitely going to have to do more research on this before anything else, just to make sure!

    Thanks guys!

Congrats on the new status. Be careful though, what goes up must come down.

Congrats! I made my appt with the Tampa, FL Dept. of Agriculture on 12/12, and I hear that the wait time is a lot less now. Not really in a rush though, so if I end up waiting a month or two I'm good.
