Hey everyone, im new to this site and have a question for ya. I live in maryland. where its pretty much impossible to get a concealed weapons permit. I have been doin some research and i see where i can get a non resident florida permit. Please tell me if im wrong or if i have read something wrong. Anyways, asuming I can, it said i need to have a safety training course or something like that. Well, in maryland, you are required to take a safety training course before you buy a handgun. Well, i have gotten an handgun and taken the course. Is this the same course they are talking about or do I need to go take a different one.. My little certification cards says:
Maryland state police training comission
Firearms safety training course
Certificate of completion
It has my name, date of birth, instructors signature and issue date. Any info would be awesome. Thanks for the info and I appreicate the help.
BTW, my name is kevin and I look forward to bein part of what seems to be a very kick ass group.lol

Just as an aside, if you are ex-military a copy of your DD-214 should be all you need.

I don't think MD honors the Florida permit.
I was under the assumption you were applying for a Florida permit so you could carry in PA, VA, and DE when out of state, correct?
Just FYI...there is no separate "non-resident" Florida permit...your permit is the same as issued to a resident, all requirements are the same.
Watch out though there are a couple states that will only honor permits from state of residence (WI) so many sites will show the Florida permit as good but if you are not a resident you could be in a jam.
I had my Florida permit before Missouri got their act together, now Missouri is recognized by more states than either Florida or Utah.
P.S. I LOVE having a concealed carry permit issued by “Charles Bronson”.
IIRC it had to be an NRA course and the instructor had to put his NRA Instructor # on the certificate. Don't know if the instructor had to be certified as a FL instructor or not (I did this 5 years ago).
Call FL as they are very helpful. I had some questions on my renewal and they answered all of them with a pleasant tone.
Well yea, i know that maryland doesnt honor the permits.. Its def just so when i go to other states i can carry.. i mean, va is only 20 min from me and i travel there all the time.. I travel to the closer states all the time..
Florida excepted the hunters safety course that I took for my permit.
It Will Work Fine, I Teach The Course For Florida Ccw. They Except Allmost Any Firearms Class,,,,,,,,,, Sad But True.
