This is a discussion on Are These Legal ? ~ Licensed To Carry Badge within the Concealed Carry Issues & Discussions forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I have a question for all of the LEO's on the forum. I came across an ad in one of the gun magazines and it ...

We have discussed these in the past - and leaving aside legality - they are considered a major no-no!!! Hate them.
No need to advertize our carry - and we have a permit to show if needed. A badge IMO could all too easily represent impersonation of LE - however pretty and despite what it says.
Legal? Depends where you are I guess but I doubt any LEO ever wants to see one! We'd possibly put a wearer of one in the ''macho/wannabee'' category!

Seems to go against the whole idea of carrying a "concealed" weapon.
Might as well just go around shaking the hand of everyone you see saying, "Hey there, I'm carrying a concealed weapon"
When the messenger arrives and says 'Don't shoot the messenger,' it's a good idea to be prepared to shoot the messenger, just in case.

As a former LEO i will say that had i ran across anyone with a ccw badge i would have worked hard to find some " stupid out of season " charge . IMHO anyone dumb enough to carry/show such a thing needs locked up at least for a psyc eval if nothing else .

As a Florida LEO, I would not even tho legal in FL.
encourage any one to wear these.
Any badge with our state seal or five pointed star is a
no-no.
Really why would one wont to have a badge for (concealed carry)
any way?

This subject has been talked about on every firearm forum on the Internet for years now but, since we have so many people here that are brand new to firearm carry (concealed & otherwise) we'll let this thread run....again.
The general and overwhelming opinion is that NO - it is not a good idea to carry a badge if you are not a legitimate Officer Of The Law.

But you know that being Stupid is not a Crime. Too bad, but if it was there wouldn't be enough room in the Courts or Jails to take care of the "violators".
I have never understood why someone would want a badge like this that just screams "I am an Idiot" (unfortunately that too is not a criminal offense).
If I was a LEO and encountered a fool wearing or presenting a badge like this I would be inclined to charge them with "Impersonation" and let them find out how expensive being stupid is.
If they want to wear a badge so bad, they should pick up an application to become a cop. If they qualify they will not only get a much nicer badge that means something, they will also get a paycheck to carry it.

If someone wants to carry a badge become a LEO or a security guard. The Idea of concealed carry is to stay under the wire out of sight untill the time comes to defend yourself or a loved one. No one needs to know you carry untill needed.

My only question to the badges is, Why? Why would anyone want to even inadvertently wish to confuse other individuals like this. Having a badge such as these might lead people into thinking you were law enforcement, not to mention, why would we want to advertise that we are concealed carry citizens???
I know in Texas, it's bad JuJu to say the least having (wearing or carrying) any sort of badge with a 5 pointed star on it...approximates the Texas Ranger badge, even a t-shirt with the representation on it is illegal.

just something to spend your money on. they don't mean anything. it is the permit in your pocket that is looked at not no badge.
