    CCW'ing with Spare Ammo

Saw this interesting article on ammoland.com about having enough spare ammo. I usually carry my G26 with an extra mag. Time to rethink my set-up. I also carry a Ruger LCR with 2 speed strips for a quick reload. So, what's your extra rounds set-up like?

You can only have too much ammo if you are swimming for your life!

Usually just one extra mag...two mags for some FL towns: Jax, Ocala, Orlando...

Depends on what am I doing and how much inherent danger is present. Going for a walk with the family in my own neighborhood in gym clothes - M&P 9C with with 1 spare mag (in all terrain stroller via pack holster, only accessible by the person pushing). Going to help little sister move out from dumb-ass ex boyfriends apartment - Shield on hip, 2 spare mags on belt, LCP in pocket holster. I could go on but I'm sure you get my point.

If the weight of the spare ammunition makes you lean to one side or the other, it is probably too much. Beyond that, carry as much or as little as makes you comfortable. You are the only one here who has to live with your decision.

I carry 10+1 in the gun and a secondary mag of 10. I like to think my marksmanship is good enough to if I can't get the target down in 21 rds or create the opportunity to escape, its just not meant to be.

I always carry one handgun and a reload where legal. Usually, I carry a primary handgun with a reload and a pocket BUG with a reload. Occasionally, I carry two primary handguns with two reloads for each and a pocket BUG with a reload. The least I carry is 13 rounds and the most I have carried was 107 rounds.

I carry a gun, because a Cop is too heavy.

I carry either 10+1 with the stock mag or 15+1 with the FS mag in my M&P40C, a 15+1 round in my FS M&P40. Another 15 rounder on my belt. I plan on getting a 2 mag holder. My minimum carry load is 26 rounds. As long as I can carry more ammo I will. Not only for the extra rounds but in case of a mag failure. As a retired Airborne Infantryman there is no such thing as too much & I'm well used to carrying as much as I can; ammo, water, food - in that order. Run out of ammo in a firefight there might not be any need for food or water. I'm not expecting to get into a firefight nor do I look forward to it but old habits are hard to stop although I no longer carry food & water except for maybe a granola bar unless I'm hiking then a bottle of water goes along for the walk.

My EDC's are smaller capacity (CDs & 1911) so I carry one extra mag.

I always carry 1 spare mag, and when I get a third mag for my current EDC, it will be coming with me daily as well. Not saying 46 total rounds will be enough, just all I'm willing to pack everywhere.
