    New from northeastern Indiana

Even though my wife surprised me by saying she thought I would have purchased a gun long ago, I just bought my first ones about a month ago: Ruger SR22 for fun and teaching my son, and a Glock 17 Gen 4 for me.
While the state made everything I currently do with a weapon legal without a permit, I figured I'd get one since they have a lifetime option and I'll eventually carry.
I'm very happy with my purchases and the Glock is a fantastic. I'm now in the phase of getting everything else to go along with it (belts, holsters, etc).
I'm looking forward to learning and participating here.

Gun control isn't about guns...it's about control. It also makes criminals out of otherwise law abiding citzens.

I have the license, it took me all of 10 days, much to the chagrin of my friend who got his after 7 months. Being the responsible citizen, husband and father that I am, just because the state says I can carry, I don't think I should until I get proper training, so I am working on that. Range time is more fun than I last recall (prior to getting these guns, the last time I shot was 25 years ago with my dad)

Welcome to the forum. I believe you are wise in feeling you are not ready to carry. Once you get the proper training and enough practice you WILL KNOW when you are ready..........at least, it worked that way for me.

I never wanted to take the chance of being "just inept enough" that a bad guy could take away my gun and use it against me. "Stick to your guns" there.

G-d, Make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who would seek to destroy me. And G-d if today is truly the day you call me home, then let me die in a pile of empty brass.
