    Illinois revokes the first CCL

Happened in the suburbs northwest of Chicago.

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...,2582142.story

The first -- and so far only -- person to have his concealed carry license revoked in Illinois is a Northwest Side man accused of pulling a gun during an argument over rent money.

William P. O'Connell, 54, got into the argument with another man around 4:35 p.m. March 23 in the 4600 block of West Palmer Street near Hermosa Park, according to police.

O'Connell pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the man and threatened to shoot him, police said. The man and a woman with him called police and O'Connell was arrested, according to a statement released by police.

Sorry, they must have moved the article. I reposted from the SIG-Sauer board.

    Try now.

It's bound to happen. Luckily he didn't hurt anyone before it was taken away.

    It's Chicago.

Even those who haven't been in trouble are going to have a bit of the thug mentality. The only way to survive in a jungle is to be a predator, and Chicago has been a dog eat dog cesspool for way too long.

I haven't been to Chicago in 10 years and I steered clear of anywhere other than the Downtown area then so I'm not conversant with the neighborhoods and their reputations, but I'd bet this wasn't a "good" neighborhood and there is more to the story. Whether the CCL holder is the aggressor or not.

No, but it's par for the course in Illinois.

Stupidity is everywhere, some places manifest it more than others.

Unfortunately, no "community" is perfect. Whether that community be motorists, politicians, victims rights advocates, religious figures, anti-gunners, or pro-gun people (in the various flavors). People are people - good and bad, smart and stupid, diligent and careless. But, the media tends to focus on the fringe cases and try to color the entire group with whatever those few have done, rather than looking at the bigger picture to determine the values and integrity of the group as a whole.

While we would all hope to not see articles like this, the reality is that stupid people do stupid things.

IF the story turns out to be totally true (and the individual has not been convicted of anything yet), it just proves that there are always going to be outliers that cause problems - if you issue 50,000 licenses chances are at least a couple will be idiots. Statistically .1% would be 50 people.

Of course, the Chicago Tribune CANNOT WAIT to publish these stories and make as big a deal out of them as possible - they simply 'prove' their anti-gun agenda.

So that means the roughly 250 people who shot other people in Chicago so far this year did NOT have carry permits. Interesting...

Maybe for the west or south side of Chicago, but to say par for the state of Illinois is certainly not the case.

That didn't take long, probably mere days since his Wally World walk.
