yeah Marcus, makes no sense...I can walk down the street/drive with a rifle or shotgun in plain view, I can CCW 10 pistols, but I can't conceal (unless traveling) a knife w/blade longer than 5 /12" or an asp....
I'm in FL so my 6" folding is OK. Many of you may not know this, but anyone who can legally possess a gun can have it in the car with certain access requirements?
Long guns, I need to research. I'm lax about having them in the car with ammo in mil-cans and buttstock slips.
Oregon is concealed weapons permit, no limit on the number.
In years past, Washington state had a CCW (carry concealed weapon) permit. After some unsuccessful prosecutions of people carrying weapons other than handguns, the legislature changed the permit to a CPL (concealed pistol license). It authorizes you only to carry a concealed handgun. Knives with a blade over 3"*, blackjacks, brass knuckles, saps, switchblades, etc. all fall under the definition of 'dangerous weapon' and as such are prohibited from carry.
PS: * Edited to add that there is case law in Washington that a knife with a blade 3" or less can be considered a dangerous weapon depending on the circumstances of its use. These cases were in the context of deciding if a prison sentence should be enhanced by virtue of using a dangerous or deadly weapon during a crime. The short answer is yes. So if you rob someone in Washington with a 2" knife, you can get five years added to your sentence.
To answer your question, you would be hard pressed to pass the Texas CHL with a derringer. It involves timed strings of up to 5 rounds at a time. This would be impossible with a derringer. Not even Jerry Miculek would be able to pull it off!Quote:

Maine permit is a permit to carry concealed firearms...so pretty much any gun that you can hide
New Hampshire is a Pistol/Revolver License so I can't carry my skeet gun with 28" bbl under my overcoat here like I can in ME :rolleyes:
No other weapons are specific to the CCWs in these states but some may be allowed

Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife.

so if I wanted to carry a broadsword under my duster I could get away with it. Well, at least I would win a knife fight.

In MO, your permit allows you to carry, in addition to your handgun(s), any knife except for an automatic or balisong. You can carry any blade-length, single or double-edge...doesnt' matter. You are also allowed to carry impact weapons (blackjacks, saps, kubatons, etc.).
W/O a permit, you are limited to a folding knife with a blade no longer than 4", and NO impact weapons.
