    funny trip to walgreens

My wife and I go to Walgreens to get some passport photos made. I'm carrying my 1911 9mm holstered on my belt but concealed by my jacket. Its Saturday morning and the store is crowded. We ask to get the photos and the manager has us remove our jackets for the photo. Well my wife looks at me and just smiles knowing whats under my jacket. I remove my jacket and hand it to her fully exposing the 9mm. The manager glances at it and doesn't say a word and just proceeds to take the photo. No one cared or seemed the least bit concerned. We laughed about it while waiting for the photos to get developed.

That was quite the quandry. I probably would have suggested the wife go first, excused myself to the bathroom and tied my jacket around my waist. Seems to have ended well, though, so whatever works for ya.

You're lucky he was "gun friendly". Many times when having to remove my jacket when I didn't expect to I've just draped it over my arm and kept the gun concealed. Probably wouldn't work when posing for a picture however

I had a similar situation happen a few years ago... I was in court all day, so I was wearing a suit. A black one...
I had to pick up one of my bird dogs and take him to the vet, and I had no time to change before I left.
Once at the vet, the dog decided he did not want any of the vets staff touching him, so I had to lift him up on the exam table. Not even thinking about it, I removed my suit jacket and put the dog up on the table. My 228 was hanging out and looking good on my belt. Two of the female techs screeched and left them room. This got my dog even more worked up. The vet laughed pretty hard, and 'ol Leroy got his shots.

Pretty cool that no one seemed to care. We need more people like that around. Glad to hear it went that well.

Take your jacket off? It's a head shot for God's sake.

    What's up with that?

Screeched and left the room? Haven't they heard that they quit making those kinds of guns that jump out of holsters and chase people around? I mean, it's been years since I've even heard of guns attacking people.

Seriously; it sorta throws some light on the anti mentality.

It also throws some light on one of the reasons why we keep them concealed; Sheep can't handle the truth that predators understand only force. Therefore we carry.

Who cares if you're wearing a jacket...in my photo you can't tell if I'm wearing a shirt or a jacket...

    Strange story indeed.

I would not have opted for exposing the gun. You said the store was pretty crowded? So the manager or employee or whoever was not the only one to worry about having a bad reaction to seeing the gun.

The one big question I have: is open carry legal there? If it is, then no big deal I guess. If it's not, then you broke the cardinal "concealed" carry rule (that one's self-explanatory).

    Another story

Went to get measured for some pants. On getting the inseam done, the seamstress touched my 38 in the ankle holster. Never batted an eye. Of course this was a LEO/fire/EMS uniform store.

I recently got a passport photo at a AAA store (for a FL non-rez application). I wore my vest as usual and was not asked to take it off. I could have done so without exposure, since I was carrying IWB with shirt tail covering.
