So Much For Carrying On My Trip To Vegas.

Yep, thought I was gonna do it, but turns out I can't.

Thought my non-res Idaho permit would do it, then re-checked handgunlaw.us.

Nevada does recognize the Idaho permit, the ENHANCED Idaho permit.

Yep, five non-res permits and I'm a no go in Nevada.

Oh well, it'll be just like I'm at home. I can't carry here either.

Give some time and a few politicians will have the US just like B.C. We, as gun owners, are too complacent and are not as active in helping groups like the NRA help us to keep our guns.

    Not in Vegas.

I had a trip to Vegas a year ago and two weeks prior to my trip Nevada changed their reciprocation again. I have a resident Colorado permit and a non-res Arizona permit and I couldn't carry in Sin City. You can thank the local CCW teachers and gun shops for this...they encouraged the Nevada politicians to resend reciprocation for the states that border Nevada. Then it went even further to include several other states. Since you can't get a non-res Nevada permit without taking a CCW class in Nevada, those local CCW teachers and gun shop owners make out.

That is not true. You certainly can open carry in Vegas and many do. Take a look at Nevada.

GunnyBunny you may want to take a look at taking the class ad getting your Nevada non-resident permit while you are here. At least two local gun stores offer the class for free.

    Please enjoy your stay.

Remember if you do open carry in NV. If you enter a casino you will be asked to leave. If you refuse to leave the casino (or any other business that asks you to leave) You will be arrested.

OC is fine in Vegas, with the limits as mentioned above. ie casinos.

Call Kurt Gepke if you have time to take his class. Good instructor. He'll come to your hotel to teach the class and take you to the range for ive fire quals.

Thanks Ken, I've already looked into that.

As I am not a US citizen or permanent resident, Nevada will not issue me a non res permit.

How long will it take to obtain a Nevada non-resident permit? Would I have to renew in Nevada or can you do it by mail?

As near as I can tell Nevada only honors permits from 14 states. Mine isn't one of them. I treat the place like I do California and just leave the gun at home if I go at all. Las Vegas Casinos and I don't really need each other that much anyway.

Then the law has been changed since I was there. However, if you can't carry in a casino why bother? Since a casino is where most people end up when visiting Vegas. It seems rather silly to OC when you can't do so in 99% of the places in the city. I'm not an OC fan...you lose any tactical advantage and draw unnecessary attention, especially from LEO's.

You can pre-qualify the day before class, one long day of class, and then to the State ID for picture and prints, wait time is almost the whole 180 days. The CCW is free. at The Gun Store. Best Machine Gun Range -The Gun Store Las Vegas

You can also pick up the paperwork there for your UT or FL non res. Its free. I pre qual on Sunday, took course Monday stop by fingerprint place Tueday on way out of town, took about an hour. Received 5 mos later. If you donot have gun they will rent one to you. Very effient place.

Wait, what? Canadians are allowed to own handguns?

Also, be careful as you pass through Washington State, the new I594 makes it illegal to hand your gun to someone else without a background check.
