Kind of funny a thing tonight

So tonight 3 families (mine being one of them) went to dinner then out looking at Christmas lights. There was 3 moms 5 kids and myself. We drove to a display in South St Louis that had a incredibly long line. We sat for 30 minutes and moved maybe half of block. So one of the moms decides that we should walk, so we parked and headed out. We saw the lights then decided to walk over for some ice cream to end the evening. We got a little off the beating path and rounded a corner and headed down an alley. One of the kids said something about this being kinda scary her mom says don't worry we are in a group. Me and my wife were behind the rest of the crew she holds my hand and says I am not scared then a minute or 2 later my 12 year old comes back and grabs my other hand and says I am staying by you daddy you have a gun. I just smiled. No one outside of my immediate family knows I carry everyday.

It's nice that not only do they feel safer, they really are safer. That's always a good feeling. Congrats!

My spidey sense would have kept me out of an unfamiliar alley.

Me, too. The idea is to avoid trouble, not boldly go where no man has gone before just because you are carrying.

What I like about that is that a 12 yr old knows were to go when they felt afraid. The fact that they felt that fear in the first place was good. teaching that SA young. Very glad nothing happened, because with those odds, at night, in an alley. You would have had your hands full.

Of course you were also carrying your 1000 Lumen light, and you were carrying a Beretta CX4 with extra 30 round clips. I always wonder what kind of holster people use for one of those/

That is good that your wife and daughter know where to stay and trust you to take care of them.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of going down the alley myself. I wasn't leading the pack. When the decision was made to get ice cream (Ted Drews for any of the locals) the 5 kids were like yes!! I was like its after 10 are we sure they are open LOL. So a quick phone call confirmed they were open until 10:30 so we headed off and the last turn we made was an alley that was decently lite but ultimately still an alley is STL. Thanks for a kind words guys!

Glad it worked out well for you. There are times when you have to go with the flow, especially when you have others with you. Personally, I don't do alleys, day or night time.
