Indiana Lifetime, how long to get it?
I sent paperwork from my local PD to the state with fingerprints ETC, and was wondering how long I should be waiting for my license to come in the mail?
I sent it in Jan 19th, every time I see a mail carrier I feel like tackling them to see if they've got it today.

Can't answer for Indiana ... but here in Ohio (howdy, neighbor!) the Sheriff has a 45 day limit. They either have to grant or deny within 45 days. Jan 19th ain't even 30 days yet.
BTW -- I just took care of everything last week (Feb 6th) and I'm already counting down the 45 days. I'm with ya, brother. Every time the phone rings I jump all over it. NOTE: The deputy said they'd call and let me know before they mailed the paperwork out. Nice guy ... but that doesn't help the wait !!!!

thanks, I just put a Glock 27 on layaway because there's no sense buying it if I can't use it, and it was used at a really good price so I didn't want to pass it up.

Now would be a good time to buy it and break it in so it's ready when you get your license.

wow, I was eager to get mine after the first week of waiting, everyday I'd walk out to the mailbox to see if the sheriff was nice enough to send me an early Christmas present. I took my class on Dec 3, went to the SO and filled out my paperwork and was fingerprinted that next day (Monday) and waited... and waited... and waited. Finally got it on Jan 8, it felt like a year. But 4 week turn around compared to what you guys are seeing? wow, I'm sorry you have to wait so long.

My wife and I applied the same day. She got her's in about 5 weeks. Mine had an error in the paperwork and had to be corrected. That took another 3 weeks to process.
The delay irritated me a bit, but at least I'll never have to re-apply.

I'll be sending mine in soon. Meanwhile, I still have 2 1/2 years left on my current permit. SOOOO, if it takes a long time, I'm ready.

I think you have to wait til 90 days pior to your current pemit expires to apply for the life-time permit, don't you?

The BIG WAIT!!!
I applied for my lifetime Indiana License October 11, 2006. I was within the 30 days prior to expiration issue for the automatic extension per Indiana law. I received my application and check back last week. The City police did not sign the form!! Back it goes. I will probably have to wait at least 6 months as the license people are a bit backed up! I'll probably see it in August
. Glad I only have to do this once! Unitl they change the law again!

I believe it's 180 days prior to expiration.
I actually let mine expire in June because the lifetime wasn't offered until July. It cost a few more $$ because I was applying for a new permit, not a renewal. The bad part was for the first time in 12 years, I wasn't legal to carry and that wasn't a good feeling.
