Help filling out Florida CCW form...

    On question #4 it says:

Do you qualify for exemption from the public records as provided by section 119.07... florida statutes? y/n

if yes do you wish to have this information kept confidential? y/n

I looked it up in the packet and it APPEARS to let you keep your file information confidential. Whats the real story here?

Also... will they accept a form with an answer 'whited out'?

I believe that they are now all confidential (to some extent) by law. Probably that law exempting them from Sunshine laws was passed after that form was developed.

My recollection as to that specific question is as follows:

That particular section pertains to certain state employees, law enforcement officers/corrections personnel and retirees who keep their addresses/personal information private. If you are not one of these, you don't qualify so answer "no".

This was an issue only until the legislature decided to keep ALL CCW license information confidential.

This area also may include Firefighters & EMS Personell in many situations. And let's not forget that many individuals want and may succeed @ gettint that law changed and allowing BG's to be able to steal your firearms or know to come in prepared to KILL YOU & YOUR FAMILY IMMEDIATLY ON ENTRY DURING A B & E
Condition "yellow" is a heightened state of awareness & response.

    Your recollection is correct.
However I'm not sure about ALL CCW being confidential.
But the exemption (Fla) is for LEOS etc.

Call the Division of Licensing at (850) 245-5691 and ask them. I am sure they will clear the subject.

As a MA LEO, I have been exempt from the public info wrt my FL CCW. I checked this out with them in 2001 when I originally applied and once again when the FL newspaper published everyone in their county. In both cases, I was assured that my info was tagged "private".

So LEOs from anywhere in the US are exempt. Not sure about any other categories.
