Yes. Keeps people from freaking out if my gun is exposed. I know I'm not a cop.
-
Maybe. I'll have to think about it some.
-
Not for me. I won't harrass you for having one though.
-
Uh no.
-
No. People who carry these are wanna be cops.
-
No. People who carry these are such posers and I regard them with contempt.
-
It's illegal in my state.

They'd have to re-issue all of us new permits that are CCWM....Concealed Carry Weapon, Maybe! Ole Bumper can relate to the "misidentification"...we were once private investigators with...get this "American Bureau of Investigation"....I'll let you guess who we got mistaken for while out on a "Domestic" case.....ah yes, we did have our moments!
I also seem to remember they got us into Mexico when we would otherwise not have not been allowed to go. But that's another story...
I voted that they were posers that I hold with contempt. That being said I also added another option to the poll, "They are illegal in my state". In Arizona, they are illegal to wear, period. They will yank your permit and put your little arse in jail. At least they will after the police officer stops laughing. They are novelty and if you want one, that's okay. Just don't ever try to "use" it. Leave it at home....

In the place of a badge which I am in no way for, a CCW Standardization between states would help so maybe in the background you see clearly CCW or whatever the proper term is. If I am traveling in Texas and get stopped at least there is an ID the officer may recognize and say I am a good guy.

People who opt to carry a CCW badge are generally the same people who obtained a CCW permit for use as a status symbol. I hold them in contempt.
These are the same people who believe that since they've been authorized by the state to carry a concealed firearm, they've suddenly become an armed civilian version of law enforcement who is now obligated to place themselves and others at risk by watching over and protecting the sheep. Thats why they feel the badge is necessary, to impersonate law enforcement. I hold them in contempt.
Concealed means concealed, you don't need no stinkin' badge. And if you want to play cop, join the academy.

I doubt it
Until I physically see a CCW badge, I am putting it in the same class as UFOs, square circles, and military intelligence.

What's the point. When a cop wants to see my CCW License he doesn't want to see some stupid badge that I bought in the mail.

If you want to--do it without me. Had a friend who bought one and showed it to me. My response, was simple, if you ever show that thing while you are with me, I will pretend I have never met you.

I have to disagree with the idea of carrying these "badges".
Having been in Special Forces for several years I know all about 'Wannabes."
There are always problems with people who have this mentality.
I can appreciate the comment by Prospector, I used to work as a PI for the "Western Bureau of Investigation" in Los Angeles. I'm sure I experienced the same confusion as he and Bumper did.
I just think badges are a bad idea for CCW holders. I agree with the consensus being voiced by most of you.

Hey QK I'd love one of the Internet Detective Badges for a wall plaque. But never a CCW badge.

That would be me. I have collected patches for about 15 years, not actively anymore, but I have a few. I have a couple of badges. They never leave my home office/study.

Here's what the Ohio Attorney General has to say about CCW badges:

That was an interesting official statement type letter from Ohio.
I'm not sure what the Pennsylvania official view/law is concerning CCW badges.
I'm best guessing that our "Boys On The Street" AKA ~ Local LEO, State LEO, & County Sheriff
would either:
(1) ~ Have a very hearty & soulful laugh at the bearers expense. or...
(2) ~ Get miffed, suspicious, & possibly POed
neither option would be something that I would desire as an LTC citizen.
