well i found one copy of the magazine at a book store once and have not been able to find it. i will prob sign up for the magazine and to be able to look around at the site for free a little bit might make the money worth it if i like what i see. Personally i think it is kewl, cool for those of you that have never done a lot of chat rooms and instant messaging, that there is actually a person who runs a magazine that actually talks and answers question to people that really read the magazine. good to see you around and hope to hear more from you!

July 06 Issue
The cover photo on the July 06 issue is simply superb! What more can I say? Thanks, Tim!
In the same issue, in an article about long range handgunning, Robert H. Boatman writes that Elmer Keith invented the .357, .41 & .44 Magnum cartridges. Not true. In the 1930s, before Elmer's time, noted handloader Philip B. Sharpe urged S&W to produce a heavy revolver that would handle loads hotter than the standard .38 Special of the day. In 1934, Colonel Douglas Wesson became interested in the project and convinced Winchester to produce a new cartridge, dubbed the .357 Magnum, to be fired in the new S&W N frame revolver which eventually became known as the Model 27. Thus, Winchester invented the .357 Magnum cartridge, but the seed for the idea was planted by Sharpe.
Fast forward to the early 1950s. Elmer Keith, as did Sharpe before him, began urging S&W to produce a stronger, heavier revolver to handle his hot .44 Special loads. S&W President, C.R. Hellstrom, agreed with Keith and went him one better. In addition to building the new heavy revolver which eventually became known as the Model 29, Hellstrom convinced R.H. Coleman of Remington in 1954 to bring out a new cartridge, the .44 Magnum, for the new revolver. So Remington gets credit for inventing the .44 Magnum cartridge, but the idea originated with Elmer Keith.
Likewise, the .41 Magnum cartridge was invented by the Remington Arms Company, with input from Bill Jordan. Keith's "connection" to the cartridge consisted of his joining forces with Jordan, Skeeter Skelton and others, to lobby S&W to produce a fixed sight .41 Magnum service revolver, the Model 58.
These facts are detailed in History of Smith & Wesson, by Roy G. Jinks, and the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas.

My copy didn't come today and I'm in the state where it's published.
Hope I don't have long to wait.

I got mine on Saturday. First thing I noticed was the cover.
If there was a vote for "cover of the year", this would have to be it. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this one says it all.

Is USCCA a 501C6?
Does anyone know if The United States Concealed Carry Association is a 501C6 or is it just a magazine publisher??

If it is not in the US Constitution then the Federal Government should not be doing it.

Welcome to the forum pontcanna. Don't worry about being checked by the Canadian Postal Police. It's delivered in a plain envelope.
BTW, I finally received my copy on Saturday also and it was well worth the wait.

How does the Mag come in the mail ie... is it delivered open like other mags or is it discrete and is covered.
I do not want people knowing I am a CCW holder that is why the Senate and Congress have passed legislation on not makeing the lists public.
I have looked them over and have passed for the time being, the subscription is too costly for the number of issues and membership is to high (for me any ways). I know I sound like a prude and I am not knocking them it is not Finacially(sp) possible for me at this time. I would in the future like to join if the price comes down or the bennies were to increase.

The last 2 or 3 issues have come in a yellow envelope so discretion is assured.
The mag' has gotten better and better and is well up there IMO with other leading mag's - but being CCW dedicated has much more of what I like.
Sure it is more spendy but - it is a specialist mag' and I accept the higher price because it delivers.
