Got caught carrying, good for a chuckle

I am starting a new job, and therefore I was required to take a drug screen (pee in a cup) as a pre-employment requirement.

I went to the designated lab, signed in, and sat down in the lobby. After a short wait my name was called and a nurse walked me back to the "collection area".

Apparently people do all kinds of crazy things to cheat the test, so the lab has some strict rules. The nurse told me that I had to remove my jacket, and then she said "removed all items from your pockets and place them on this table". Well, I sure didn't see that coming.

I looked at her and said "Well, I have a concealed carry permit, and I doubt that you want me to remove my firearm and place it on this table" (not that I would ever give up control of my gun in any event).

The nurse was absolutely shocked and looked at me like I had 2 heads. Her jaw dropped and she started stammering. Eventually she said "I don't know what to do, I've never run into this before". I offered to go out and lock my gun in my car, and she agreed that would be a good idea.

When I returned she did not make any mention of my firearm, and was pleasant and friendly.

I'd love to know what the conversation in her office was after I left :)

I had a similar experience, just today. My company brought in reps from the local hospital to administer flu shots in our office. Great, since I hate making appointments for the doctor.
However I wasn't dressed accordingly, and had to very carefully untuck my shirt enough to work my left arm & shoulder out of my sleeve without being made.

Happy to report that I was successful and I'm all tucked back in now..

I wonder if the building will now be posted GFZ. I know when I went in for my last pre-employment drug screen, i specifily disarmed before going.

In my case the building was posted (KS Not force of law), and i was brand new to carrying. In face I was OC as I was still waiting on my CCL.

    Thanks for sharing!

Should've said I've got a magnum in my pocket and winked at her.

Is that even considered a real gun?

I'll be honest I get a little bit embarrassed when somebody ask what I'm carrying and all I have is my glock 42.

She didn't "knowingly" run into it before. I'm betting other people were, and just never mentioned it to her like you did. I wouldn't have. To me, none of their business .........
