    ammo exctasy

So, last week I got a customer appreciation coupon in the mail for Cabela's, $20 off my next $100 purchase. So today I made the trip over there. I was really wanting a good range bag, but lo and behold they stopped carrying them. So I decided I'd hit up the ammo instead, can never have enough. So I nab 9 boxes of 40 S&W, labled at 12.99 a box(pricey, but I like shooting winchester, dont ask.).. I go to pay for it, and the ammo is on sale for $2 a box off. So I got out with 450 rounds for $80.

So it sounds pretty good except that, it sounds like you did not get to use your coupon You can use that as an excuse to go next time.

I used my coupon.. I racked up just the $100 needed to use it. It expired tomorrow, hence the trip today when I'm dying of the almost-flu.

aimhigh, it looks like its not built yet, but its comming in Adairsville GA. Click here to read all about it

The store here went in in a really small town in the boonies, now its a massive tourist attraction, with big motels, great restaurants and a huge indoor water park going in right now.

Thanks for the heads up on the Georgia Cabelas, Adairsville is one town South of where I use to live! I just told my wife we'll be taking a road trip as soon as it opens.

The town where I live is trying to hash out the final details of getting a store. If it goes through I would be less than a 2 min drive to the front door. Dangerous I tell ya.

At those prices you always 'double the order'... ...but certainly a nice find!

    Ammo prices have gone up

I had been buying Winchester practice ammo myself at Walmart, and about 6 months ago the 100 round boxes were selling for (I keep my receipts):

    9mm....$11.98
    .40.......$16.98
    .45.......$20.98

In my last trip a few weeks ago, however, the prices were:

    9mm...$14.56 (22% increase)
    .40......$19.98 (18% increase)
    .45......$26.97 (29% increase)

I presume this is because of the increasing price of fuel as well as metal components like lead, copper and brass. But it is a striking increase over a 6 month period.

The .45 is becoming very expensive, and unfortunately it is one of my favorite calibers. I did find some CCI Blazer (aluminum case) .45 ammo at Natchez last week for $9.99 per 50 ($19.98 per 100) and ordered 500 rounds. Even with shipping of $25, the price is still better than Walmart, and there is no state sales tax.

So that particular Cabela obviously does not stock firearms. Weird...

Our Cabelas has signs to check your firearms at the door (but concealed is concealed)
